My family has had dogs since I was a little girl, always larger breeds. Growing up with dogs is a great way to learn responsibility, what better than caring for your fur friend. When I turned 18 I adopted two cats from the local shelter. When my daughter turned two we adopted our adorable Bella, she was just a small puppy but has now grown into our 55 lb lap dog :) Pets really are a part of the family, and should be treated as such.
