Love & Walks, Work from Home

Pet care experience

I have had dogs my entire life and used to raise Great Danes, Siamese cats, and a variety of wild animal rescues. My mom says I have animal magnetism. I have done animal care for years with dogs, cats, fish, horses, farm animals, and small animals. I have cared for pets in recovery from surgery, during heartworm treatments, with asthma, and who need meds or special foods. My Labrador is mature, neutered, and well socialized and I have no children currently at home. My home has central heat and air. I have a completely fenced back yard. There are hardwood floors in most of the house and lots of small rugs for my dog to relax in comfort. I have a huge hard-shell dog crate, if that makes your dog feel safe for a break. I send daily updates with pictures. Pets are often a bit anxious on vacation and I like to give frequent potty breaks, lots of walks, let them sleep by my bed, and sit with them while they eat. Toys are great as long as that does not trigger possessiveness. If you will bring a bed or towel that smells like home, I will put that next to me and let them sit on my foot or next to me, with my foot touching them, so they feel secure. I like to head off any drama before it happens, so my dog eats in a different room and if anyone gets a treat, everyone gets a treat at the same time.

Teresa was great and our Golden Retriever pup (11 mos old) had a great time. Teresa was communicative, shared daily pictures while we were away, and our dog came back exhausted! Perfect first experience with Rover and one that we'll definitely repeat with Teresa in the future!

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced yard and a covered porch for outdoor time in all weather. We like to take walks and also like to throw balls up the stairs, if they like to chase. They sleep by my bed or in a crate, as they prefer. I can let them have some quiet time in my office, away from other dogs, or just let them shadow me, along with my Labrador. If any dog gets a treat, everyone gets a treat, if any dog has a toy, all dogs have a toy. I separate them to eat until I know if they are OK together with food involved.

Information Teresa P. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if there is anything that frightens your dog, such as storms. What are things that make your dog feel safe, like resting with a foot touching them, having a break in the crate, or turning on a fan for the white noise? What kind of toys and games do they like to play?

A typical day

We like to walk the neighborhood or play in my fenced backyard. My Labrador loves to have company and I have lots of small rugs for them to flop on when they are tired. We play finding games and chasing games. I love the long hall down the middle of my house and my stairs. They are great for tossing balls and toys.

Availability

I work from home over a VPN, so I like to take the dogs out frequently throughout the day. Essentially I treat all my guests like they are my own dog, so there are dog beds by my desk and my bed and they are with me all the time. If they are OK riding in the car, we may run some errands.
