Chikki received the necessary physical care. I appreciate that the sitter looked after Chikki's well-being. However, I did not feel entirely comfortable during my stay due to the concerns listed below. I believe these issues are important for future pet owners to consider. First, during the Meet & Greet/drop-off, I was not informed in advance that I wouldn’t be able to tour the home. I understand and respect the sitter’s need to protect her children’s privacy. Still, it would have helped if she had communicated that beforehand or offered an alternative time for a tour. As a pet owner, I need to feel confident about where my dog will be staying for several days. Even a virtual tour would have sufficed. Since I couldn't see where Chikki would be staying, I felt worried about the conditions Chikki might be experiencing. Second, I had expected daily updates because many of the sitter’s reviews highlighted her communication. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. I often had to reach out first, and when I asked about the lack of updates, she said in the message, “ I understand I will be sending photos and videos today, it is a holiday, so I am celebrating with my kids and family, so please be mindful of that as well.” I understand wanting to spend time with family. Still, since holiday rates were accepted and paid, I expected at least one daily photo or video — especially because Chikki can get anxious when he’s away from me. Lastly, I was not informed that Chikki would be kept in his small travel carrier at night for bedtime. This was never mentioned during the booking or in the sitter’s profile. I was uncomfortable with this because the travel carrier doesn’t provide space for him to stand, stretch, or move around, and I would have appreciated knowing this ahead of time so I could decide whether it was suitable for him.
