Farm-stay with hiking and dog pack!
Pet care experience
Hello! I am an active small business owner with a flexible schedule, and I am excited to help out in caring for your pup or kitty. I have lifelong experience caring for animals, and currently have a crew of 2 cats, 2 goats, and 1 rescue doggie at my beautiful 2 acres in Tres Piedras, NM. My work consists in leading local hikes with the assistance of the Nigerian Dwarf goats, "John Waters" and "David Lynch." Daisy, the 2 yo Rhodesian Ridgeback/hound mix, loves to frolic and play with other doggies, and is friendly with cats. We are conveniently located just past the intersection of 285 and 64, en route to all of the best Northern New Mexico or Southern Colorado adventures. Please feel free to check out our business, "The Little Goat House" (website and social media) for more information on us and our animals!
Reviews
Tanya was a wonderful sitter for my dog, Olive! She provided lots of care and adventure (including hikes with her goats) and was highly communicative--keeping me updated with photos and videos.
Tanya was great! I have a diabetic cat and she had no problem testing his blood sugar and administering Insulin shots. She was very communicative and sent me regular updates on how he was doing. Grateful to Tanya for taking such good care of my kitty!
Tanya is an amazing animal handler. I learned so much about animal communication from her by letting my puppy run off leash with Daisy, her large guardian dog. I trusted both Tanya and Daisy to navigate the high desert and keep us all together. I've seen her interact with visitor dogs of all ages and sizes without issue. Tanya truly loves animals, has great instincts and a firm command over her pack.
tanya was awesome and the little goat outpost is essentially a resort for our pup. dropped him off on the way south and he could not have been happier. free to roam and run and play with the goats and other dogs. got a couple adventures in while he was there. i was almost nervous he wasn’t gonna want to come home. tanya sent pics periodically while he was there, proof positive that he loved every second. we’ll definitely drop him off again anytime we’re heading that way!

Information Tanya S. would like to know about your pet
Please share the following information about your animal: - Friendly with other dogs? - Friendly with cats? - Friendly with livestock? (Note: If your dog does not have experience with livestock, that is okay! Typically dogs that are 40 lbs or less do great with our goats and around our neighborhood, which also boasts horses, a mini horse, mules, chickens, and a llama!) - Does your dog obey commands and is it okay for them to hike off-leash? - Is your dog a potential flight risk from the property, or will they stick close on the property with my doggie?
A typical day
We usually take a minimum of a 2-5 mile hike daily with all of the animals (my dog and the 2 goats!) in the Carson National Forest or around our neighborhood in the "Highland Estates" of Tres Piedras. The Carson trailhead is just a quick 5-minute jaunt down the road! All other dogs in our neighborhood are either friendly, or fenced. The trails in the neighborhood are virtually unused other than by myself, my caretakers, and our animals. 99% of the time, we see no other dogs or humans when on our hiking adventures!

Animals are given potty breaks, fresh water and food first thing in the morning. Pets receive plenty of love and playtime throughout the day. We take a minimum of 1 neighborhood or forest walk/hike each day with all of the animals, and we have everyone inside for dinner by dusk, followed by a final potty break before bedtime.
