High quality animal care

Pet care experience

Hi my name is Sydney and I am a graduate from The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo. I have been trained to care for not only domestic pets but also exotic animals such as birds, reptiles and other exotic mammals. I have grown up taking in dogs, cats, rabbits and snakes and giving them the highest quality of care and plan to give your pets the same level of care. I have a very flexible schedule and I will accommodate all of your pets needs. My animal background includes, zookeeping at AZA accredited zoos for 5 years and working as a veterinary technician for 3.5 years. I recently moved to Asheville from Chattanooga, TN, where I was a zookeeper at the Chattanooga Zoo. I have accepted a position as the veterinary technician at the Asheville Humane Society. I am comfortable attending to animals of all ages, including geriatric or individuals with special needs. I can assure you that I possess the enthusiastic attitude to keep your pets happy and safe while you're away!

I really appreciate Sydney’s patience with my dog who can be high energy. I will definitely reach out to Sydney in the future when I need a trustworthy compassionate petsitter!

Won’t use anyone else to watch our babies besides Sydney. She is very responsive and easy to work with. Flexible and sweet. She has fur babies that are super sweet and my babies love to play with them! It’s hard to find someone you trust to watch your pups and I’m so thankful we have found Sydney!

I had to be out of town for a week, and leaving my 12-year-old cat with Sydney turned out to be a great decision. I especially liked that he had a bedroom to himself to be his safe space, but then also a nice house to explore and a calm older dog to make friends with (apparently things got kind of cuddly). When I picked him up he was perfectly at home and content. Would definitely leave him with Sydney again and recommend her for anyone else's cat.

Information Sydney S. would like to know about your pet

I would love to know your pets behavior (with you and when you’ve left them with sitters in the past). Any special needs, anxiety triggers and if they get along with other dogs/cats!

A typical day

Lots of play time! I love to hike and go on walks, so if they have any favorite places to go- I’d love to explore with them!

My schedule is Tuesday- Friday with an hour lunch break to take dogs out for a long afternoon walk. I also enjoy evening walks after work so the dogs get plenty of exercise if that is something they need. Weekends are spent hanging with the pups, taking them on walks or hikes outside!
