Will treat pets like my family!

Pet care experience

Hi there, thank you for considering letting me take care of your beloved pets! Animals are my passion and have been my entire life. I have taken care of animals from all walks of life - from dogs to horses to chickens and then some - since I was 8 years old. My happy place is with dogs and I would love a chance to play with yours for as long as you will let me! In terms of experience, I have 13 years of dog ownership (everything from training to clipping coats and trimming nails), experience fostering dogs, plus 20 years of horseback riding experience. I have ample experience training both adult dogs and puppies and can assist with anything from basic obedience to more complex concepts like "relax".

Sydney was a great sitter! She was attentive to our pup, sent us frequent updates, and was very reliable. We would highly recommend her!

Delilah had the best time with Sydney and Pretzel! Sydney sent frequent updates and was very responsive. I felt completely as ease leaving Lilah with her for almost 10 days. Highly recommend and would book again :)

Sydney is an excellent dog handler. Patient, caring and willing to go the extra mile to make both dog and owners happy. She provides reqular updates with pictures if requested. I suggest maybe the first day or two for your comfort - after that it was not necessary. We also know our dog had a good experience because when we went to visit Sydney (unfortunately she was not at home at that time), my dog knew where to go and refused to move from the steps until I had to physically move her. I highly recommend her.

Sydney was an excellent caretaker for a week for our two cats. She was very thorough, kind and responsible. She also gave us great daily updates and pictures of our boys via the Rover app. Thanks again, Sydney!

Safety, trust & environment

The health and safety of your pets are my highest priority, followed very closely by their happiness. Daily care will be customized depending on the needs of your specific pet. High energy pet? No problem, we'll start the day with an hour long walk, followed by a training session to get their mind working and a puzzle toy to keep them occupied. Lunchtime would have 30-45 minutes of high intensity fetch, and evenings would have another long walk and longer still training session to keep both mind and body happy. More of a couch potato? Replace the walks in the above with cuddles on the couch! Is your dog shy and feels most comfortable in a crate? No problem, I have three of them. Very flexible and customizable depending on your needs!

Information Sydney M. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any allergies or diet restrictions so I can be sure to accommodate appropriately! I also would appreciate knowing more information on how your dog tends to react when meeting other dogs on the street as I do like to go on many walks with dogs, and if they have any resource guarding behaviors (food, toys, etc.). I do not allow pickups after 9 pm or before 7 am so please plan accordingly! And if you do not bring enough dog food for your pups stay, there will be a surcharge of $2/cup of food provided from my own stash.

A typical day

Typically I like to take all my dogs for a nice long walk when they first arrive; walking is probably my favorite part of dog care! There are two big parks within a half mile of my house, and I have a 25 foot long leash that I take with me so I can let dogs have a bit more freedom to explore when the parks are quiet (no off leash time for dogs that stay with me unless they are in my fenced yard for safety reasons). We play lots of fetch in my yard too, and when it's too cold to go outside I've got a big living / dining room where we like to play tug of war! With dogs who spend the night, I also like to do one or two training sessions during the day to satisfy their mental needs as well as physical ones - either reinforcing existing known behaviors (i.e. sit, down, stay) or, with your permission, learning new ones ('sit pretty', for example!).

I am currently working from home full time so have ample opportunity to attend to your pooch. While I do work 9-5, my job is extremely, extremely flexible and I take many breaks during the day to attend to my client's dogs needs. Please note, it can be difficult for me to accept requests that are booked with less than 24 hour notice but I will try to accommodate. Note that I do require a meet and greet between your pup and mine to ensure they get along prior to accepting bookings. I have a 1.5 year old goldendoodle (50 lbs) who is excellent with all dogs big and small. He has cousins that are 6 lbs that he calmly coexists with, or 80 lb besties that he wrestles with! Very adaptable.
