Mt. Vernon Dogsitter, Esq.!

Pet care experience

I'm a 30-year-old attorney with serious dog-fever and a desire to make extra money doing something I love (hanging out with dogs!). I started dogsitting in April (2014), and business flourished and became my new side-hustle-hobby. My living situation has changed and I'm in a smaller place now--that's why I am now offering in-home services. The great thing about choosing me to sit at your house is that the pup will be the center of attention--we'll spend the weekend doing whatever your pup is used to doing + some! During the week, I would not be able to go on a mid-day walk. I will walk the pup before work, around 8am, and then again after work, sometime around 5:30pm. Of course we'll get as much exercise we can in the evening! I am happy to answer any further inquiries you have about my schedule. About this sitter: In my free time--which surprisingly, I have more of than expected--I do yoga, explore new local dives, embark on my newest DIY ideas, and now that it's (finally) nice outside, I like to go on long walks around Mt. Vernon (the best hood in Baltimore, IMO). I have serious puppy fever, but until I have a larger place, being a part-time dog parent will have to do. Why I love dog sitting I grew up with a sweet rescue, probably a shepherd mix, named Sweetie Pie. She was our family protector and companion. She lived a long life--almost 18 years. My dad used to keep pointers for hunting, and we usually had 3-4 at a time. My friend and former roommate has a sweet, docile hound-mix, and I've learned loads about owning a dog from her, and my best friend has a GIANT golden doodle that I frequently spend time with or watch while she's out of town. Since I was a student for 7 years, I never had the time to devote to owning a dog on my own, and even though I'm no longer a student, it's still not a financially responsible for me to own a dog. But lucky for me, I have several dog-loving friends and family who let me keep theirs! (I am currently long-term planning for a new Aussie or Border Collie puppy, but it's just not in the cards for me at the moment.) Meet my pets Sami, an aloof but lovable and friendly de-clawed tuxedo cat (he was declawed when i got him!) About my yard I do not have a backyard, but there are plenty of parks and areas to get exercise around the neighborhood.

Very happy with the care Sydney provided to my 2 cats and 2 dogs over the Thanksgiving holiday. She stayed in communication with me and I felt confident that everyone was well cared for. Will definite use her again!!

Our boxer Addie stayed with Sydney for 2 wks while we were away. It was our first experience leaving her somewhere. Sydney was absolutely God sent! she made Addie and us so comfortable as we met prior. Although we dreaded living her behind, we knew that she would be taken care of. during our vacation Sydney sent us updates and pictures. when we picked her up, Addie looked very healthy and well adjusted at their house. If we need a dog sitter again, I would have no hesitation to leave her with Sydney again. Thank you!

I have never left my dog with a stranger and didn't know what to expect from him or from the people watching him. This experience was infinitely better than I ever imagined. I actually felt bad bringing him home after having such a great stay. I would without question recommend Sydney and her amazing roommates for any length stay

Information Sydney D. would like to know about your pet

I would want to know the dogs needs--bladder and bowel needs, sleeping needs, and exercise needs. Though my boyfriend's work schedule allows him to help out during the day while I am at work, it would be best if I had a dog who would be okay inside from 9-5. I'd like to know if the dog is prone to any bad behavior--such as chewing--so that I could prep the house before arrival.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks OF COURSE! That's one of the best parts (except at 7am on a cold day:). My boyfriend and I like to walk the pups around the neighborhood where they are sure to meet many new furry (and human) friends. We'll walk all around the neighborhood and maybe go to the park. We'll take shorter walks in the morning because I have to get ready for work, but we make up for it in the evening! Your dog's sleeping arrangement That depends on the dog--for example, my best friend's new puppy, a 4 month old Golden Doodle, urinates frequently and has a lot of energy. He's being trained with a puppy pad, so I keep him in the tiled kitchen and dining room area with his crate to sleep. Other older dogs, such as the two Westies I keep, sleep in my bed with me just like they do with their owners at home. Time I'll spend with your dog When I watch pups, I prefer to spend my free time with them. If I go out in the evening or weekend, I try to go somewhere dog friendly--like a restaurant with outdoor seating--so I can take the pup along. When I an keeping a dog, I always feel a little guilty spending time away from home on the weeknights after I've been working all day, so your pup would have plenty of companionship at my vacation home.
