Train them while you're away!
Pet care experience
I've been working with dogs since I was old enough to walk, but that doesn't mean that I was any good at it back then. Now, I've been working professionally with dogs for coming on 8 years. It's a profession that I landed in by accident, but I don't think it's surprising that it happened. From a young age, I was always drawn to the dogs, the horses, and the cats that I was raised around. When I was 15, my family had an outdoor dog that I taught to jump over a rigged up broken PVC pipe in the back yard, and called it "agility". Now, I spend my time helping dogs and their owners who are struggling with a variety of things. Bringing peace back into their homes, or preparing their new puppies to be the best dogs that they can be. I travel the country to work with other skilled professionals, and continuously refine my own skillset to make sure I'm delivering the best support and solutions possible to dog owners. Due to the high demand for training and behavior work, I do that almost exclusively full time now. When dogs are boarded here, it's more than just having somewhere to stay while you're gone. It's about improving their behavior for you, giving you tools and support that you need to continue, and help you to live a better life with your dog. Because of that, I only offer boarding with a minimum of a 14 day stay. During that time, any behavior or training concerns with your dog will be addressed. For many of the wonderful dog owners that I work with, having their dog do a training stay while they're traveling makes sense, as they'd have to board or hire care for their dog/s anyway. If you are looking for just boarding, and nothing else, there are many other wonderful sitters and care providers in the area who could fulfill your needs. Choosing me is something that you should do if you want to really have your dog go the extra mile, be cared for by a seasoned professional, and have the perk of being trained while you are away. Training reviews, videos, and demonstrations are available upon request. Booking through Rover, stays are limited to 2-4 week timeframes, which are determined based on what you want, and what your dog needs. During their stay, you will receive photo and video updates, progress reports of their training, and private one on one instruction for your family as needed to help the skill transition move smoothly. Behaviors and challenges that I work with include: *manners - leash pulling, jumping, barking, crate training, etc *Anxiety - separation anxiety, car anxiety, social anxiety *Reactivity - lunging, barking, growling, pulling toward other dogs or people, lashing out in the home at guests, through windows, etc. *Aggression - toward people, other dogs, vacuum cleaners, etc *Obedience - Basics, heeling, public proofing, drop, coming when called, off leash reliability, etc. *Puppies - puppy socialization, building, and training. *crate training - potty training - house manners training Almost any problem you can think of, we can work with. If you're interested in having your dog trained, please send me a message and we can chat further!

Suzannah was great! Our sweet boy had a great time and fit in well! We appreciated the updates and pictures and her knowledge of dogs is very impressive! We will use her again for sure and highly recommend :)
Suzannah was very accommodating. She ensured that she enforced rules that I enforce with my pups at home. She kept me abreast of how they were doing during their stay.
suzannah took care of my 3 cats for a week and seemed to do a great job. one of them had to take medicine and she wasnt phased by it. she gave me reports of how all of them were doing, and all the reports jived with their personalities so i know that suzannah was paying attention. she also has dogs and a big yard. it's clear she's an animal lover :)
Suzannah did an excellent job watching my energetic german shepherd. She has a large, fenced yard so there's plenty of room for dogs to run around. I will definitely use her again and highly recommend her.

I love and accept all breeds! Due to the stress levels it can cause with my smaller male dog, I no longer accept other intact males for boarding. I will still accommodate intact males who have stayed with me before! It helps for me to know as much as possible about your pup before they stay, so that I can give them what they need to be as comfortable as possible here!
A typical day
I have a large fenced yard available for playtime, and a large open living space indoors for them to hang out in as well. Outdoors, there is a wooden deck with a dog pool, and a tug toy setup with a canopy (for shade) and water misters (for cooling). Some dogs enjoy tugging on the hanging toys, and some just like to go lay underneath with the misters to keep cool when they want to be outdoors. Rough play is not allowed indoors, but dogs are allowed to play at a lower energy level. Most choose to nap on one of the dog beds or under the dining table anyway, but for those that do want to play, there is a small ball pit for the puppies/dogs, and two baskets full of various toys and bones for them to dig through. Because puppies need 16-18+ hours of sleep until they hit about 10 months old, any of the younger dogs are put up for a nap after longer periods of play time or activity, so that they can rest their brain and avoid becoming too stressed or cranky (just like toddlers who haven't had enough sleep!). Some of the regular guest dogs will occasionally take a trip with me and my dogs to the lake, or downtown to hang out! Them coming usually depends on their behavior (whether they are off leash trained, etc), and the weather. I allow dogs on furniture, but if you don't want yours to be up there, then I can reinforce your rules regarding that. I prefer that dogs are crate trained, but if they are comfortable and well behaved outside of a crate when left unattended or at night (if I have to run to an appt for 1-3 hours, or run errands), then I am happy to leave them uncrated. I have video cameras linked to my phone so that I can check on the dogs while I am gone, to make sure that they are comfortable and not getting into any trouble or hurting themselves.
