Pet care experience
I've never owned a dog or cat, but I pet sat my brother's cat for years and used to care for my neighborhood's animals whenever they were out of town. This included dogs of all sizes, from a golden retriever - great pyrenees mix, to a king charles spaniel. I love to cat-sit as well, and I've even taken care of a few birds. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter back in WA called SCRAPS as well. Since I've been in HI, I have cat sat for my friends cats a few times and always enjoy doing it.

Susie is so responsive and timely! Our cat Oliver warmed right up to her, and is always purring and cuddly with Susie. She sends tons of pictures, I’m super comfortable leaving our kitty with her when we are out of town. Thanks Susie!

I absolutely love animals and believe that it's very important to read the 'client' before interacting. Cats and dogs have distinct personalities and some are more cuddly than others. Making sure that the animal gets what it needs is my top priority, be it playtime, cuddles, walks, or just food and stares from afar, every job is different to account for the animal's desires. I'm happy to accommodate for whatever the animal (and the owner) wants.

Any behaviors they have while walking / relaxing / playing that I need to look out for. Whether this is chasing cars or other dogs, if they get tired easy and might sit down, or if they will sniff every single tree they come across. Knowing these behaviors will help me make sure that what the pup is doing is normal for them and that they're comfortable with me.
A typical day
I love bringing pups to areas like Kailua beach or the Marsh trail, but I also love that Kailua is an area where you can also just enjoy a nice neighborhood walk. If you don't want your dog brought to the beach, we will still have a wonderful time wandering the neighborhoods together. I also love playing with dogs, so if they have a tennis ball to throw or a toy they like to bring outside, I'd be more than happy to bring it with so we can run around in a park together. I also am a runner, so if you want your dog to go on an actual run as well, I'd be more than happy to do this.

Availability
I currently work at a marine biology cetacean laboratory full time, but am free all day Fridays and Saturdays and am allowed to set my own schedule and work from home if needed. My laboratory is on MCBH so it's fairly easy to get into Kailua from there.
