Home full-time - large fenced yard

Pet care experience

I’m home full-time raising GrandLovies. Hubby is retiring soon. We’re on a little over an acre and our property sits way back even off the quiet street (very long driveway). We have a large fenced back yard and doggie door access to smaller fenced potty area/run. We lost our sweet loves - a 120lb pound puppy rescue (Shepherd/Chow/Golden mix) and a pure bread Golden Retreiver. Both passed away from age related issues after living long, wonderful lives. We are not ready to commit to new puppies just yet but do have room in our hearts and our homes to love your precious baby(ies). Although I’d prefer to have your Sweetie come stay with us, I am home full time and so if the situation is right, I may be available to come to your home for daycare or to stay (all day/night or part of the time - let’s talk). We are new to the whole dog sitting thing and while yes, it is a way to earn some extra income, it is also a way to bring some loving dogs into our lives and share our love with them without the full-time commitment. I wouldn’t feel comfortable keeping pets from multiple families at the same time, so your pet(s) will be the only one(s) here getting our full, one-on-one loving attention! As mentioned, we are raising some GrandLovies. The youngest is almost 5 and the oldest is almost 10. (The older one is visiting other relatives right now). I am 50 and my husband is 65. He is only home weekends until he retires at the beginning of 2019. I have some health issues that keep me close to home and prevent me from being extremely active but I am able to handle (and love) large dogs -if they are well behaved. I don’t mind “making” them behave (being firm) but can’t take extremely aggressive dogs that could be a risk to the little guy. We are an inside dog friendly home, super casual - and love having the pups hang out with us all day if that’s what they want to do! They are welcome to sleep next to our bed (or on it if they are so inclined) but we just replaced the couches in the living room so no giant dogs on the leather. While our home is relaxed, know that I also keep things structured (I’m an RN with a bit of OCD tendencies, haha) so things like feeding schedules or medications, special toys, blankets., if your pup needs to have their ears rubbed a particular way or be wrapped in a thunder shirt during a storm... I can do all of that (we had one that became very noise phobic his last few years)! I’m also fine with giving meds or even shots. If you’re interested in chatting or meeting up for a visit at the dog park let me know. We’d love to have your precious one come be a part of our family for a bit (*or I can come to your home) so you can rest easy while away on business or vacation. *The little guy will probably be with me.

Information Susi P. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if your dog prefers to be inside or out (or both). I’d like to know about temperament and if they have any sensitivities (foods, sounds, kids, vacuuming, particular people -one of our dogs would go nuts around really tall men or men with beards?? The other developed noise phobias -to cardboard, plastic wrap, and thunder).

A typical day

If your dog(s) are staying with us we will mostly spend time on our own property (just over an acre) and in the neighborhood. Our next-next door neighbors have 5 acres with a very large flat open area and they are happy to let us run the dogs there. It’s very safe; far away from any traffic areas. However, we also have a RAV4 and are happy to take the dogs for a ride to the park to play (depending on dog size, this would usually be a weekend activity though).
