Over an acre of doggie play zone!

Pet care experience

I live with my husband of 30 years. I'm a former teacher and my husband is a current teacher. I think of my dogs as my furry children. I've had at least one dog my entire life (let's say I'm in my middle years!) and I can't imagine life without one. I will treat your fur babies with respect and dignity. I give treats for positive behavior but I won't spoil your dog. In our home, pets are part of the family. We move-over on the couch for the dogs! And, of course, they can sleep in our bed! Does she like to snuggle under the covers with us? – no problem! Or, if he likes his space in his own bed, no problem either. Animals need exercise and play just like people. And sometimes we all need a little quiet time so we will do that too! Consider your dog part of our family when they visit! We live in an 1890s farmhouse mutt of a home-- a little country in the city. Our play area is a wooded/natural setting to run and play. We have a large fenced-in area where dogs can play safely. We also love to take the dogs to local open space trails for long leash walks too!! Come play with us!

Susan was amazing! Our dog got a little nervous at the beginning of the stay, but she was great in helping him feel comfortable and part of the pack. She definitely went the extra mile there.

Susan did a fantastic job with my two little squirts! We got lots of photos and updates and I felt completely confident that they were well cared for, even in the cold weather. I won't hesitate to book her again. :)

Susan watched over Poppy with care and empathy. She updated me with Poppy's emotional state and let me know when Poppy had finally settled down. Poppy will be staying with Susan again.

Information Susan C. would like to know about your pet

I love to know the dogs' favorite activities or if they have any allergies or medical conditions and what their general temperament is like. I'm especially fond of senior dogs as I feel they need extra love and attention. I love watching any and all dogs but for now, I will stick to hosting small or medium breeds in my home. I know Rover lists Medium dogs up to 40lbs but I prefer dogs under 30lbs or so. My home is mellow and laid back and I find very high-energy dogs to be a bit stressful. If your dog needs constant action and attention, they may be better off with other dogs of the same temperament. That way they will get the play and excitement they need. We are a laid-back bunch. ****NOTE: I have gone back and forth with Rover regarding the "Extended Day" fee. This is the fee that pops up automatically for the final day of your multi-day booking. According to Rover, the price is figured out based on how many hours your dog is with me on the last day of his/her stay. If it's less than 8 hours, Rover calculates a fee of 50% of my overnight price. If it's more than 8 hours, Rover calculates a fee of 100% of the price. So, if your dog is with me for 8 hours I receive $20. If it's with me for 9 hours, I receive $40. I truly wish I could delete this pricing structure. Instead of letting Rover figure out the fee for the final day of your dog's stay, please calculate how many hours your dog will be with me on the last day, and if it will be with me for more than 2 hours, the stay is equivalent to a daycare charge of $30. Since Rover will not calculate it this way, I will have to add $10 to the charge. I'm honestly not trying to nickel and dime you. I realize care for your dog is expensive enough. I'm just trying to be paid fairly for my excellent service. Generally, my rates are $40 for an overnight stay (8-24 hours) and $30 for daycare (up to 8 hours). I'm a very flexible and laid-back person and I'm not picky about an hour here and there, but I don't think I should be forced to watch a dog for an additional 8 hours on the last day of a stay and only receive 50% of my overnight fee of $40 or 60% of my daycare fee of $30. So, if your dog will be staying for 1 night and 7 hours on the final day, please realize that it is equivalent to 1 overnight fee and 1 daycare fee and I will have to make a modification because Rover calculates this price incorrectly. If you have any questions about this, feel free to discuss them with me. I'm a very reasonable person :-)

A typical day

We love to play fetch, walk around our property, catch the breeze in front of the evaporative cooler in the summer, cuddle, doggie massages, treats for tricks. If doggies are up for it, we'll take them to walk around Thomas Reservoir up the road or for a nice leisurely spin around the neighborhood across the way. If your dog is up for a long walk we enjoy hiking at the Dry Creek Open space off Baseline Road where there’s a fun water hole if your dog wants a dunk. We also have a kiddy pool in the yard for summertime fun. My home is very laid back so we will always have stress-free fun and lots of toys for chewing, snuggling and squeaking.
