Care for all of their needs, like brushing them, sit by them, pet them and maybe do some tricks. Take them outside often. Would have long walks/runs with them. I would pay attention to them and not just ignore them. I have had 3 dogs in my life growing up. Cockapoo, Boarder Collie and a Beagle. They were all my best friends and I miss them dearly. All lived 15 to 16 yrs. I've also taken care of my sister's Alaskan Huskies and Labs. For other people's pets, I know what it's like. They are family. Would try to befriend them. If they're happy, I'm happy. So, I do positive reinforcement. That's the best way. Constant praise. Does a lot better in a low voice.
