A good dog walker is someone who has an attention for detail, great communication skills, self motivating and trusting, and someone who is very accommodating. You need to be able to pay attention and keep track of several things while walking a client’s dog, like the dog’s behavior and any requirements the client has. The job is more than just putting a dog on a leash and walking around the block. You also need to be able communicate with the client. They are entrusting their fur baby to you and need to be kept up to date! A client wants to know that their dog will be taken care of and in good hands. You have to be trusted to not only walk but be in charge of their dog when they are there. Finally, dogs come in all shapes and sizes. From your chihuahuas to your Great Danes. Each breed has it’s own needs and quirks and ever dog has their own personality. A good dog walker needs to understand all of these things and, at their core, be a dog person. In my experience, Summer has all of these qualities in spades. She’s been everywhere from a pizza restaurant manager to a market coordinator. She can juggle multiple tasks at once and keep a cool head. She has always been around dogs of all breeds and is very much a dog person. Summer knows people, dogs, business, and how to manage it all!
