Atlanta Dog Loving Native

Pet care experience

I have had dogs large and small all my life. I love dogs and animals in general. I have a spacious fun home for dogs. I have a small little pack of my own and find that they show other dogs the ropes around here. My dogs are spoiled but I do let them know who is boss. I have no human children of my own so my dogs are my family. I volunteer for a German Shepherd Rescue Group and have two shepherds and a 12 year old Wheeton Terrier mix. They are all great with all kinds of dogs and puppies. I raised my last German Shepherd from a puppy. She lived to be over 15 years old and died of natural causes several years ago. I have this way with dogs almost like I am a dog whisperer if you will. Dogs love me and I love them. My home is doggie heaven with other dogs around to play with ... a toy chest ... plenty of dog good and treats. I am also an Atlanta native and well educated. I know this town like the back of my hand. I have a nice car that I recently had 4 German Shepherds in ... it works ;-). Count on me for responsible loving dog care.

Stevens is literally the best dog walker I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He sends video messages to consistently update on how my puppy is doing. He listens and stays consistent with training. He’s very accommodating with my schedule. Stevens is the ultimate professional and I don’t think I could recommend anyone else at this point. I recommend him first and foremost.

Stevens is the absolute best! Cares for all of the dogs as if they were his own. Very patient, kind and caring. The dogs get tons of love and attention and are always on the go. They go to the river or the park daily. Stevens also sends pictures and videos of your pup while in his care so you are constantly updated on what they are doing and how they are. It is great. My only concern is that my dog would not want to come home!! She made new pup friends and I have no doubt that she will gladly go back when we go on our next trip! I cannot say enough great things about how well my dog was cared for with Stevens!

Stevens is an incredible dog care professional and a genuinely lovely person. He takes this important job very seriously and cares for our dog as one of his own. We are looking forward to booking another stay for our dog very soon!

Stevens will take as good of (if not better) care of your dog as if he was at home with you. His dogs are great and mine had a blast staying with him. We would recommend him to anyone with the comfort of knowing he will make them a part of his dog family.

I want to know they are current on all of their shots and are heart worm negative. I will need to see vet records to prove this. They must be house broken. I am not getting into this to have my home destroyed. They must get along very well with other dogs and people. There are a lot of dogs and people around here and I shall be held harmless if one of my clients' dog bites ... injures or God forbid kills someone. I also wantto know the dog is treated very well in their current home. I volunteer for a German Shepherd Rescue Group and I have seen the lasting affects of a negleted and or abused dog. I have one foster dog Jill from the group who is a great dog and may become mine soon. Fortunately, whatever she endured left no lasting scars physically ... psychologically or emotionally on her. Same goes for Layla. She was chained to a tree for the first 6 months of her life with the chain embedded painfully in her neck with a bad infection. She too is unscathed by this terrible mis-treatment. In the case of abuse against animals, I believe in an eye for an eye. The former so called owners of Layla aught to be chained to a tree for 6 months and see how they like it !!!

A typical day

I have a pretty set daily routine I have my dog on so here it is: 7:00 AM - I go outside with my dogs to go potty and have some play time. Sticks and fetching are a huge part of this part of their day. 8:00 AM - Breakfast - Feed and water the dogs 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM – Morning Outing – we all pile into my car and off we go to ride in the car and most importantly hit the river or a local park for run around / play time. 12:00 PM – Return Home 12:30 PM – SNACK TIME! My dogs know what the words SNACK TIME means and they come running. We head into the kitchen where I have a platter of bacon flavored dog treats. I yell SNACKS! and start throwing them these treats. They love it. 1:00 PM - Rest time - I am usually eating lunch and the dogs are resting all around me. 2:00 PM - Nap time - Me and the dogs head upstairs to my bedroom to "take a night night". Layla jumps on her love seat / bed ... Jasper finds his spot on the floor and Cassy & Jill usually jumps in bed with me and we all take about a 1.5 hour nap. All dogs are welcome on my furniture and in my bed unless I am told otherwise. 4:00 PM - Outside for more potty and play time. 5:00 PM - Some sort of outside activity like a long hike or walk at one of the local area parks. This maybe going to the river for a hike and swimming or to Memorial Park on North Side Parkway for a walk and swimming etc. My two German Shepherds can handle these activities with no problem. The wise old man of the house Jasper ... my Wheeton Terrier mix who is 12 years old ... can pull off a 2 mile walk but he has arthritis in his back hips so the next day he can be very sore and have trouble getting up from a laying down or seated position. I have a special dog stroller I put him in for the occasional River and Memorial Park trips. After a trip to the River for a long walk / hike we all go to my parents’ house in Buckhead for a visit. My parents love all of my dogs and my customer dogs. 7:00 PM - Dinner time for dogs and rest time. They are usually very tired after a long walk / hike and swimming. Chasing squirrels and deer are a large part of of our out door activities. 7:30 PM - Usually a dog party outside at my townhouse complex. The dogs play and mingle with other dogs from the neighborhood. 8:00 PM – SLUMBER PARTY! I get on the floor with pillows and a blanket. All of the dogs take up their spots around me and get some lovin then rest. 10:00 PM - Outside for potty time. 11:00 PM - Bed time or time for night night. We all go up to my bedroom together and nestle down for the night. I find that I do not sleep well unless I sense all of the dogs are in my room sleeping with me. My place has a very open floor plan with an upstairs hall way that ends such that it opens up onto the vaulted ceiling living room. I call it the high dive. Layla my 2.5 year old 100 pound German Shepherd tends to move from her love seat in my room to the end of the high dive to sleep and guard the house. Other dog oriented activities include taking the German Shepherd to various German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Georgia fund raising events ... volunteer lunches and outings etc. We get to see our old human and dog friends that we volunteer with in this group. I am from Atlanta and my parents live here so we frequently go see GrandMammy and GrandDaddy at their house ... they love their GrandDogs. In addition, my family has a beach house in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. It comes with a large yard for the dogs to play in and lagoon for swimming plus the beach and the ocean. Layla loves to fetch sticks from the ocean. Large waves are no match for her.
