Welcome. I provide petsitting and playdates in a knowledgeable and pet friendly and safe home environment. I have been a pet sitter with DogVacay and Rover for over 7 years now. During this time, I have had the pleasure of hosting hundreds of wonderful dogs, enjoyed their company, and met their many great pet parents. I truly strive to give each guest a memorable and enjoyable stay while they are away from home. However, many dog parents have experienced "withdrawal" when their pups didn't want to leave their temporary, fun environment. My goal is a 5 star experience for all, and I have achieved a following with many returning pups. In the past I have served as team leader and volunteer coordinator of the Pensacola branch of the Emerald Coast Golden Retriever Rescue, where I learned much about dog personality, their eccentricities, and providing an environment that promotes a stress-free, smoke-free, safe and happy experience while away from home. In this capacity, I were responsible for the assessment, and intake of pups running the gamut from strays and pound pups to owner surrenders. I've fostered dozens of pooches from various situations and many definitely needed more attention than others, and I found myself instinctively inclined to rely on help from Karma, my original Golden Retriever, who never met a dog she didn't love. As a result, Karma and many foster babies trained me to provide basic training, socialization and trust, and the ability to find the best forever home for each individual rescue pup, based on the characteristic of both the fur baby and the adopting family. This included performing home checks, obtaining references from potential adoptees, and considering the full approval of our foster babies. My Golden Retrievers have the sweetest personalities: Mia, who is 2 years old and Abbie, who is still a puppy As with Karma, they also have never met another dog they did not like and they are experts at making new dogs feel at home. In addition to many inside areas for lounging, we also have a room for kitties, bunnies, or other small pets who would rather not be bothered with the business of canines. I also offer the service of bathing your pup to send them home to you fresh and clean. I never overbook and always take into consideration the eccentricities of each individual guest so that we are able to provide each client with personal attention. Safety and security is a primary concern for me, and since I am home full time, I always provide constant supervision of all pups during our frequent backyard visits. During meet and greets, I always tell dog parents that the only requirement when bringing their dogs for stays is their regular food. If their pup would prefer their own bed (or anything else that would ease anxiety about being in a new place), that would be great. I also supply treats, unless the parent says no or if they only are only allowed treats from home. The pups will alway go home clean and happy! I SPECIALIZE IN TDYs AND OTHER LONG-TERM STAYS. Note to pet parents: I have never had a flea or tick infestation in my house or my yard. I take great precautions and regularly spray my yard with pet-safe insecticide. Why I love dog sitting I have loved and lived with dogs all of my life, and I have had experience with a wide variety of dogs and personalities. I say that I like dogs more than people - except people that love dogs as much as I do. I truly believe that to take another dog into my home, I am responsible for his/her total care and well-being as long as they are under my roof. Since I got my first Golden Retriever from a breeder, I became active with the Emerald Coast Golden Retriever Rescue and eventually became team leader for the Pensacola area. In this capacity I recruited foster homes, conducted home checks, and organized fund raising events. I fostered countless dogs and actually became a "foster failure" because I adopted two of our fosters who are the best Goldens in the world. They also love other dogs and will make them feel like they are part of the pack. About my yard I have a large, fully fenced back yard. There are large wooded areas with mature oak trees as well as open spaces perfect for playing and fetching. My experience administering medication I have had much experience in administering medications, both in pill form and injections.
