*DOGTEC Cert. & Prof. Dog Trainer

Pet care experience

Former volunteer at the San Francisco S.P.C.A. District Dog Trainer for Petsmart, 2010 - 2018. Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. (APDT) DOGTEC dog walking academy graduate. (40 hours) First Aid & CPR certified by DogSafe & PetTech. Certified Dog Groomer, and has completed the Petsmart Grooming Academy, and have professionally grooming dogs since 2015. AKC Evaluator for Canine Good Citizenship, APDT Evaluator for C.L.A.S.S Certified to Train and Evaluate your pup! Your dog(s) will be handled and evaluated from a Dog Trainers perspective. The key difference between an experienced dog handler and a dog lover is the level of knowledge; the ability to handle different and difficult situations. As a dog lover, your dog(s) will be provided with the love and care of someone who has owned dog or dogs based off of their own personal experiences. An experienced dog trainer/handler understands how to prevent unwanted behavior, know how to work with reactive dogs, take precautions needed to ensure safety of both handler and dog, and the ability to work with a variety of dog personalities and temperaments. Under my care, your dogs will be provided with the best of both worlds. Transparency is equally just as important. I've worked in pet hotel/pet boarding facilities for years. If you've dropped your pets off for daycare or overnight stays, you know the ropes. You pick them up, and you get the cute handwritten report cards that tell you "Cody had a wonderful day at camp, he got a bunch of belly rubs, and play with his best friends Kona and Freddy." What's not in there is all the nasty or bad stuff.. Carefully articulated notes you never hear about all the times your dog was eating poo, and how he/she beasted out in the poo bucket. Funny thing is that dog, was my dog training client. When I witnessed it and told him about his dog's extra curricular activities, his expressed it was the first he's heard of it. After I confronted my colleagues about not addressing it. I got the response I expected. "We're not allowed to write that in there..". I have many other similar stories, but I'm not going to turn this into a blog. I mean that's the reason you're on here right? This was just one of the many few reasons I've added dog walking/boarding to my forte. Over the years of training dogs, the biggest factor is consistency but also how easily it can be undone. If you've ever had that happen to you then you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's the story you tell your friends about; that one time you let your Mom/dad/friend/uncle/aunt watch your dog for only two days. Then when you got the dog back and he/she was pooping, peeing, jumping, and biting on everything like a terror. This is where I come in. :)

Stephanie went way above and beyond my expectations for boarding our dog. I could tell from initial the meet-n-greet that she has a ton of expertise that she's willing to share, and at the same time is super respectful of what the owner is interested in. Her communication is awesome with regular photo and video updates. We even received a written summary of Sparky's activities and behaviors - one that was both informative and fun to read. Sparky came home happy, freshly groomed, and with a few new skills. I think he might prefer to live with Stephanie then with us, now.

We were incredibly impressed with Stephanie and will definitely be asking her to watch Pico again in the future. She is a total pro and we felt super confident leaving Pico with her. We met with her before the stay to introduce her to our dog and she went through a thorough intake process that covered all the bases. She gave us some really helpful dog training tips. She sent a bunch of photos and videos of Pico during the stay and gave us a report card at the end and debriefed us with more training tips. Very good communication the whole time. Thank you Stephanie!

Stephanie is fantastic! She's very professional and has a deep understanding of dog behavior. She is constantly reinforcing good habits with our puppy. Our little Bisquit loves her and we love our Bisquit when she's spent an afternoon with Stephenie.

A typical day

Dogs are walked about 4 times a day. I love dogs that fetch and this is definitely would be included in our repertoire (if they’re a fetcher). Generally there’s a mix of high energy activities and calming activities. I work on teaching antsy dogs to “rest”. Dogs that are taught to “rest” generally become less anxious because they are able to fluctuate their energy levels. They learn the difference between play and chill time.
