Growing up, I don't ever remember a time that we didn't have a dog or two(along with chickens, cats, rabbits, geese, and even a goat at once point!). As an adult, I have had quite a few dogs over the years, but currently I have two chihuahuas. Both my furchildren are special needs. Seven years ago, I rescued my little girl at 6 months old. She was abused because she would have accidents(and the cause of her accidents turned out to be epilepsy!)and she has poor vision/balance. She's on medication now, which holds the seizures at bay. My boy is an elderly little man with one eyeball(that can't see very well) and breathing problems. He was dumped on the side of the road in the middle of December 2014, and just by chance I decided to wake up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday to go get coffee. That was a scary and exciting moment, but heartbreaking at the same time. After trying without success to find his owner, he has clung to me like dog hair to my clothing! These two 4-legged children of mine have become my heart and soul. Despite the challenges that come with being their momma, I wouldn't change a thing. Not. A. Thing. During my day job, I work hands on with patients in the medical field. My experience in medicine directly translates into my compassion and care for animals.
