We have cared for dogs and cats our entire lives and particularly love smaller dogs (under 20lbs) that can share space with Amos, our 12 lb. dachshund/terrier mix, and our cat Lady! Gretchen and Spencer have dog-sat for many different dog breeds, sizes, and personalities. We love going for walks around the lake and by the creek, playing in our fenced yard, and just hanging on our cozy couch! At least one of us is home all day every day, so your pup will always be supervised and free to roam the house and go outside as needed. We enjoy meeting and caring for other dogs, and look forward to hosting yours! Amos can't wait to show off his hosting skills too! While we only host smaller dogs for overnight stays in our home, we also have availability for dog-walking and drop-in visits for dogs of all sizes in homes within 2 miles of our location on the east side of Lake Nokomis.

Spencer was great, dropping by to walk and feed not just my own dog, but a friend’s too who was in town. He did a great job with two energetic pups and was super communicative, making it a great experience!
This was such a great experience for the both of us! Zoey got to have amazing time and care from Spencer and his family and also got more integrated with other pets! I was so pleased with the photos and check ins throughout the day. This was my first Rover experience and I’m so glad I went this route for me and my baby! Would love to do this again soon! Long days can be tough on pets and their owners. Spencer and his family made it a breeze. :)
My dog's stay with Spencer and his family couldn't have been better. This was our second time booking with Spencer. Spencer and his wife Gretchen were the perfect hosts and I'm so happy to have found them! They were very communicative, took great care of my dog, and just seem like wonderful people. I could tell my dog was at ease in their home, which made it so much easier to leave her. Their dog, Amos, is sweet and mellow, which matched my dog's personality. We have a cat and an 8 month old, so we would like to know how your dog gets along with felines and little humans. Our preference is to host dogs under 20 lbs, due to the size of our indoor space and the need to share space with our own small dog, cat, and baby. Any dog that has previously exhibited aggressive behavior towards children or cats would of course not be a good fit for our home. We will have additional questions after booking on such things as preference for walk frequency/distance, feeding routine, etc. so we can ensure we make your pup feel as comfortable and at ease as we can!
A typical day
Amos (our 12lb dachshund-terrier) would LOVE to show you around and hang out while you are here. We have a securely fenced in yard (with no gaps for small pups to sneak out) that is great for running around, playing, or just getting some sun. We live near Lake Nokomis and love to go on walks once or twice daily (depending on pup's energy/ability and weather conditions), either around the lake or to Minnehaha Creek a few blocks away. Inside the house is clean and cozy with a great couch for taking naps, several dog beds to choose from, and plenty of dog toys for entertainment. We also have a sun porch with a cozy couch that is a good spot to stay cool while enjoying some people/dog/bird/squirrel watching out the window.
