My name is Sowmya and I recently graduated with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and currently work part-time as a Graduate Fellow for the United Nations - Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention MeaningfulWorld. Prior to that, I spent 11 beautiful years with my beautiful American Cockerspaniel - Griffi Garzen Appi. He was the brightest star of my house, and a wonderful, loving and loyal little angel. I miss him very much and miss caring for dogs just as I cared for my little Griffi. Now that I have graduated, and with spare time in my hands, I would like to do what I love i.e. spend time with, and care for dogs. I would like to contribute my pet loving experience with other wonderful dogs in the city. I am a friendly, approachable, loyal, loving, and compassionate person, and most of all I LOVE ANIMALS, especially dogs. Need I say anymore... In the 11 years that Griffi was with me, I was his primary caretaker. I walked him, fed him, bathed him, played fetch and hide and seek with him, massaged his belly, combed his fur, took him to the vet for routine checks, fed him medicines when he was sick, groomed his fur when it overgrew. We even went on adventures together, discovering splendid parks, lakes, and hiking trails in our neighbourhood. In addition, I have dog sat for my friends in the past - golden retriever, poodle, toy terrier, havannese, multipoo etc. doing similar tasks as mentioned above. I am a great dog walker/sitter. I can train them to walk straight and be friendly to passersby. I also keep the environment clean, responsibly cleaning after them, as well as wash/clean them as needed.
