Sophie was so wonderful housesitting our two kitties over the weekend. She sent frequent updates with photos and videos that really made us feel at ease and confident that our boys were having an excellent time and were well taken care of! She also administered meds (which we have personally found to be a 2-person job!) and was super responsive to all of the detailed info we left. We returned to a tidy house and happy boys! We will definitely be asking Sophie to take care of our little guys next time we go away!

Safety, trust & environment

My two cats at home have very different needs. Gracie is a “spirit cat” meaning she is afraid of humans (even me!) so we make sure to give her the space she needs to feel safe. Since we first got her, she has been so brave. She used to only venture out of her crate at night or when nobody was home and now she sleeps with us in our bed! She is a very gentle and easy cat to care for. Huey, my other cat, is more of a challenge as he has behavioral issues due to early separation from his mother. He can be aggressive to new people and requires a lot of comforting from me. I manage his behavior by introducing new toys and scratch boards, using calming pheromones, and shortening his nails when I can. Having these two cats that are so very different has definitely been building my skills when working with and understanding cats!

Information Sophie L. would like to know about your pet

I would love to know of any behavioral issues (example does well with people and dogs but not with loud noises), play preferences (tug vs fetch vs favorite toys), feeding times, typical potty breaks, general temperament (very active vs sleepy vs playful), and any special needs (requires medicine, be gentle with a once broken leg, bad joints, etc).

A typical day

My favorite activity with dogs is to go for nature walks or hikes, the intensity depending on the dogs needs and likes. It provides great mental stimulation (dogs love new smells and sights) in a way that is not overstimulation for over their threshold. I’m a big fan of prospect hill park, Davis field and mount misery, and cat rock.
