Ambivert who <3s Cats & Dogs alike!

Pet care experience

I've had 3 years or so of pet-sitting experience for family friends, and friends of friends, etc! These experiences range from solo dogs, to a trio of dogs, dog & cat duos, pairs of cats, and any combination in between. Most of my personal pet care experience came from my first and only cat (so far) Savannah Marie, who was my family's cat for 13 years. For cats: I can be as cuddly and affectionate, or as caring from afar, as your cat needs me to be! I know they are not all the same and have different personalities which entail different tolerances for new people in the house. I love to play with chasing/hunting toys to keep your cat on its toes. If they prefer that I admire them from the other side of the room and do not like affection from strangers, that is fine! A little bird-watching on opposite ends of the couch never hurt anyone. For dogs: I always make sure I know a dog's favorite activity/thing so I know we can bond together to hopefully curb any "homesickness" from their humans being away. Is it peanut butter? A favorite puppy blanket to wrestle? We will work it out! Most walks (potty-stops included) will usually be 15-30 minutes at least, longer on weekends or extra nice days, unless specified for your dog's needs. *I am okay with Giant dogs too as long as they are well-tempered and not very jumpy (other than playtime!) For House-sitting I am happy to take care of additional everyday things like your mail/newspaper, trash/recycling schedule, and any plant care you may need.

Sophie was great! Our cats loved her and she was very responsive whenever I had any questions, needed to change plans, etc. We will definitely use her again in the future!

Sophie is an amazing pet and house sitter. We received nearly daily updates on our little dog, Bailey, reassuring us that all was well. During previous trips away, Bailey lost weight with other pet sitters. With Sophie, Bailey was happy and well cared for while we were away. She may even have gained a little weight. Our home was equally well cared for. I highly recommend Sophie for caring for your pets. She’s got a special gift.

Sophie is an incredible dog caregiver. My dog, Luna, loved her time with Sophie, and as a dog owner, I always felt like I was kept in the loop of how my pup was doing. Texts with photos and videos were great! Both professional and easygoing, communicative, and thoughtful, I can't recommend her more highly.

Sophie is absolutely the best pet sitter I have ever used over the last 3 years and I travel 1 week per month. Here are the reasons why: 1, she would send pictures and videos of our pets with such high energy and with the greatest sense of humour. You just knew she was really getting to know and love your pets. 2, Maggie is a 100 pound Great Pyrenees and a service dog, and Sophie had her down pat in know time. 3, She came out with no scars (I think) from Annika our cat...that is saying something. 4) Our home was in perfect order when we came home, just as we requested. You would be crazy not to hire Sophie on the days I don't need her care forvour pets ??

Information Sophie J. would like to know about your pet

*I am okay with Giant dogs too as long as they are well-tempered and not very jumpy (other than playtime!) I am fine with any breed of dog or cat! I generally prefer that they are used to other people and are not afraid of strangers. I completely understand if they are shy at first as it's normal (especially for cats). If there are certain words or commands you use with your dog/cat, let me know! That way I can continue their care in the manner that they are accustomed to. If there is somewhere in the house that they should not go, please do let me know - big puppy eyes and small kitty mews can convince you of anything! Other things to note: any allergies, bad habits to avoid/look out for (peeing in the house, scratching furniture, etc), any possible triggers to avoid inside or outside the home, and how they are with other animals (particularly for outdoor adventures).

A typical day

I typically like to stick with the "regular route" - typically what you, the owner tells me! However if I am staying with your dog for a long amount of time (say longer than a week), I may explore other paths nearby the typical route, given that it is safe for myself and your dog (I always bring poop bags no matter what!). If it's okay with the owner, I may venture out with your dog to a local state park, dog friendly business with outdoor-seating, etc, for a special adventure! When we are at home, I will play with your dog - whether that means chasing each other, tug of war, playing fetch, or teaching/practicing tricks! Once they're tired out, it's usually lots of continuous petting (unless they don't like that) and chilling out time for us both.
