Hi there! My name is Sophia, I am a environmental studies PhD student focused on conservation psychology--in short how to improve human-nature relationships (hint: pets are a great way for people to enjoy time outside). I am an animal lover and am eager to find some furry friends in Madison to play with! I am from Seattle and grew up with several cats, guinea pigs and even pet rats--don't knock it until you meet one--they are super smart and sweet! Professionally, I worked as a nanny for a wonderful family for three years where I took care of two kids, two golden retrievers and two cats. I walked the dogs, and fed animals as well as administered necessary medications. While the family was away on vacation, I stayed in their home and undertook all pet care. I also volunteered at an animal shelter in Quito Ecuador for rescue street dogs and cats. Occasionally, people even dropped off exotic animals like coatis (tropical racoon-like creatures) they found injured! Due to my research-related traveling, I am unable to have my own fur-babies so I am eager to play with and take care of yours! As PhD student, my schedule is fairly flexible, especially during this period of remote work. I live near Tenny Park--a great location for dog walks! I am available for drop-ins and walks but am also happy to house sit and stay with your pet all day! If you have a smaller critter or an adaptable and travel savvy cat, I'd be willing to discuss keeping them at my home. I have my own reliable transportation.
