Pet care experience
I grew up with and have owned all sorts of animals - fish, lizards, hamsters, dogs, and a cat. Currently I have a 1.5 year old mix breed dog called Laika. Since high school I have dog sat as well as volunteered at animal shelters, the zoo, the aquarium, and a veterinary clinic. I worked as a veterinary technician for 1.5 years and am currently in vet school. I have experience with administering medicine, including injections (e.g. insulin shots). I am also able to trim your pets nails as needed (some owner assistance may be required for this). No matter your pet's needs, I will take the time to see that everything is taken care of and treat them as if they were my own pet.

Sonja's care of our pets was phenomenal. She texted us every day with pictures and updates of our pups and their behavior. And we came home to two very happy, very well cared for pups. Her treatment of our space was not as great as we had hoped, however. We came home to a thermostat that had been raised and locked to 10 degrees warmer than we have ever kept it. And while cleaning out the spare bedroom where she stayed, we found a piece of gum stuck to the furniture. I had hoped Sonja would treat our space as well as she treated our dogs, but that was not the case.
Sonja was reliable, kind, and able to bond with our shy and suspicious Australian Shephered. Sonja is magic.
Sonja is one of the most responsible, thoughtful, and reliable people I've ever met. She loves animals more than anyone else I know and has been working hard for many years towards her goal of becoming a veterinarian. She has quite a bit of experience already with taking care of animals and I have no doubt that she will one day be a fantastic vet. Until then, anyone would be lucky to have her as a caregiver for their pets. I know that she will be a dependable and nurturing dog sitter - I would trust her any day with my dog.

I would need to know about any existing medical conditions of the animal, as well as if they have any problems getting along with other dogs, animals, adults, or children. It is important to know if there are any situations that the owner knows of that the animal gets stressed out or uncomfortable in, and what that animal's specific body language is to communicate that with us. I do not have any breed preferences.
A typical day
If the owner has a valid dog park pass I would be able to take the dog to these areas to socialize and play. I am able to take them on long walks through the neighborhood, play with them in the house or the yard, or any other activity that your dog particularly enjoys. With every visit I refill the water bowl with fresh water and make sure that your pet gets some quality love and attention. If you'd like, I will also send picture updates of how your pet is doing.
