Fur babies will be in good hands

Pet care experience

I am a positive, kind, and energetic person who loves animals, particularly dogs. I grew up with a dog (Bichon Frise) as a child and into my young adult life. Now my husband and I just got a dog of our own for Christmas of 2021. He is a friendly and smart Jackapoo.

I used to be a full time dog walker/sitter but due to COVID I am now a front-end developer at Daylight and do Rover on the side. My husband (Rico) is a claims adjuster at CAA insurance. We both work from home full-time. Since Rico and I work from home, together we can make sure your furbaby is not left alone for more than 4h at a time. Since our work schedule is flexible, for dogs that board with us we can also play and walk them often and make sure they are well taken care of.

Information Sofia L. would like to know about your pet

Before taking on new clients, we would like to set up a meet and greet. This meet and greet usually takes around 30mins and allows us to get to know the dog and owner to ensure that we are a good fit for each other. This also gives us a chance to get acquainted with the dog while the owner, a familiar face, is present. I believe this is very important as it allows the dog to feel more comfortable when left alone with us, rather than being suddenly left alone with strangers in a new environment, which can be a traumatizing experience, especially for puppies. I would also like to know the following information: 1. Dog's age & breed 2. Does your dog have any special requirements/allergies (ex. medication)? 3. Does your dog get along with other dogs and/or children? 4. How often do they require a walk/to go potty? 5. Is your dog crate trained? Potty trained? 6. Does your dog sleep in a crate during the night? 7. What time will you be dropping them off and picking them up? 8. How is your dog in car rides? 9. What commands/tricks does your dog know? 10. Does your dog have all the required vaccinations and up-to-date Tick and Flea treatment? Please provide me a copy of their records. 11. Is your dog neutered/spade? 12. Is your dog healthy? (No parasite or kennel cough) Please provide me a copy of their latest vet appointment documentation. 13. Any other important information you think I may need to know to have an enjoyable stay (ex. likes to play fetch, does not like to be pet by the ears, cannot eat with other dogs around, does not like you to touch his food bowl when eating, etc). We prefer to have no shedding breds in our home, breeds that are less than 25lbs, and accept a maximum of 2 dogs (from the same or different family) at a time for Dog Boarding, and a maximum of 3 dogs for Doggy Daycare. To keep our house and your fur baby clean and safe, dogs must be groomed, bathed, and have nails cut before their stay with us (not required during meet & greet). We also require that your dog is up-to-date with all their shots and tick and flea treatments. We cannot accept any clients that have a parasite or have kennel cough. We also prefer dogs who have been neutered/spade, with the exception of puppies. If your female dog is not spaded and she is on her period, diapers will need to be provided, and it will be worn at all times while indoors. Due to additional care and cleaning required, an extra $10 will be added to your booking fee.

A typical day

Since we do not have a usable backyard at the moment, we give walks every 3 to 4 hours for puppies and 4 to 5 hours for adult dogs. We like to bring dogs to the park near my house and around the block. We can also bring them to a dog park to roam freely in a large fenced area (if approved/requested by owner). We believe is important for dogs to have their daily exercise and this also helps manage their energy levels while indoors. We have purchased some dog toys and treats. But please feel free to provide us with their favourite treats and toys, and we are more than happy to incorporate their toy during playtime. We also encourage you to provide us with their favorite things (blanket, crate, toys, etc.) as this will help them feel more comfortable away from home. We are also happy to teach your dog some new tricks/commands. Usually dogs already know sit, paw, and come. We have successfully taught dogs stay, leave it, and down (laydown).

We know how much responsibility, time, energy, and patience is required in raising a pet, and with the help of Rover, we hope to be able to help fellow dog parents out in any way that we can. We can assure you that we will give your fur baby the attention, love, and care that they need while you are away. We are responsible and exercise good judgment. We understand it is important to have good communication and understanding between, not only the dog parent, but also the dog too. We also understand that every dog has a different personality and need different attention. We are confident your fur baby will be in good hands.
