Owner away? I walk, sit and play!

Pet care experience

Hello reader! My name is Sky and I am an energetic, and super outgoing person who LOVES animals. I’ve worked with a variety of animals since at least 10 yrs old, and have always been drawn to working with them. Like many, Steve Irwin was one of my favorite people to watch when I was young. In fact, my friends often compared me to his daughter, Bindi, as I grew up in a bit of a zoo - having had pretty much any animal you could imagine. I have owned rats, various birds, dogs, chinchillas, cats, ferrets, and even briefly took care of an injured squirrel! There are no words to describe the passion and love I have for ALL animals. I feel confident in my ability to care for a variety of pets, and even if I am new to an animal, I make sure to do my research before taking on the task. For most of us, our animals are family. We wouldn't want someone to care for them with any less love than we do, and it can be hard to trust someone will care that much. Well, I do. I think every pet deserves to be treated with respect. I must earn THEIR trust and go at the pace they are comfortable with when working with them. Because we are creating a language where both of us can feel safe. It is a priority to me that I know exactly what I am doing when caring for an animal, as they have trusted me to love them and protect them as their owner would. When I am watching someone else's pet, I want you, the owner, to feel as involved as possible. To do this, I start by sending as videos and pictures to put your mind at ease. Some people like a lot, and some do not. It is up to you! I value the preferences of each individual owner, and I am great at following directions. I want to care for your pet how you would. Whether it be an extremely complex routine, or simple, it is my job to make your pet feel like very little has changed. Routine is very important, and will help to ease your pet's potential or existing anxiety. So, I hope you can relax knowing that I will give 110% when caring for your sweet fur-baby, scaly-pal, etc. Why? Because I have owned and loved many animals in my life, and I know how scary it can be to leave them in someone else's care. In Home Care: My preference is to come to you. This takes a lot of stress off your pet, and hopefully you. That way, the environment doesn't change and all the things your pet is used to will be there for them. I am very respectful of other people's spaces, as I would want other's to be of mine. Added bonus is that I love to clean, so I will always leave a space clean and tidy. I can promise your space will be as you left it, or better (should you be comfortable with me tidying up). Overnight stays would include staying in your home with your pet so they can relax in their environment. Depending on what we arrange, I can be available for the entirety of the day, making sure to fill your pet's day with fun and stimulating activities, or whatever their specific care needs are. Drop-in visits for me include feeding your pet and ensuring they are hydrated, play/cuddles, and a short walk (if you have a furry friend). But, I don't mind walking a lizard, if that is a normal routine for you! Please note, that if I am not staying, some drop in visits may not be possible if they are too far from my home. I hope you understand! With overnight stays, please note that though I am usually able to stay for most of the day and overnight with your pets, I may not always be available for the whole day. It's always possible that I will be booked for other appointments, drop-ins, etc, that will require me to be away from your pet for 3-5 hours. So, if you'd prefer your pet wasn't alone for that time, please let me know when booking me so that I may plan accordingly. If I ever show up unavailable on Rover, feel free to message me anyway to see if I can work with your needs. I may have pockets of free time to do a drop in, and there are times where plans change and people cancel. To summarize: I truly adore animals of all kinds, and appreciate this work as it allows me to surround myself with a variety of animals. I'm an actor/performer who travels for work & fun, so it isn't feasible for me to have pets of my own at this time. That is another reason why I have always jumped at the opportunity to pet sit. With this work, I am able to love someone else's pet and get my daily dose of animal-time without having to sacrifice what I also love to do: travel and perform! It truly is a win-win. I also find that watching your pets is a great way to keep me active and imaginative. Animals need to play and learn too, or they can become board and destructive. Trust me, I owned a border-collie/pit mix, and she had never ending energy!! So if you have a furry dog pal, I plan to keep up with your pup! I do have experience training dogs, cats, and rats as well- which is a huge plus! Lastly, I'd like to share that because I am an actor and traveler, I will always adapt accordingly to new environments and cultures. I love to meet knew people, to be immersed into their world and learn all about the way they live. I also love languages, and I am familiar with Spanish, German, and a little French. I would love to speak fluently in many languages, so I will do my best to communicate with what I know. I am excited to work for you and to treat your pet with respect and kindness. This is something I love to do, and I am confident in my ability to meet your pet's needs. Whether you have an anxious, reactive animal, or an outgoing, social animal, I will do my best to earn their trust and create a safe care plan that is specific to your pet. If I feel like a good fit for your and your animal friend(s), please reach out!

Sky is such a wonderful person and pet sitter! It can be so nerve wracking to have someone else watch over your pets but Sky took the best care of my two corgis. She is so sweet, kind and understanding when it came to my pups as my one dog is very picky with people. I also greatly appreciated her attention to detail to make sure my pups kept to their usual schedule for feedings and walk times. Sky was also so respectful of my home and left it so nice and clean. I was able to fully enjoy my time away knowing my dogs were in the best care. I would highly reccomend Sky to watch and care for your furbabies!

Sky was amazing with our chaotic Corgi puppy… he was neutered the day before and she spent the day ensuring he was well cared for & administering his medicine. He definitely didn’t make it easy on her with his never ending energy and we couldn’t be happier with how good and patient she was with him(:

Sky was incredible as a sitter! She made us feel super at ease for our first time apart from our 5 month puppy with a ton of pictures and videos. She left the apartment even cleaner then we left it and it's super friendly in all our interactions! Our puppy bonded with her after just two days and was so sad when she left! Would highly recommend and we'll use her again.

This is specific to your animal and their needs, as well as the owner's preferences. That said, please let me know what your pet's needs are so that I may prepare and accommodate them accordingly! I am of course able to give any medications, I will just need to know what schedule to follow and the method in which they are given. I would also like to know the temperament of your pet: how they interact/warm up with people and other animals; how long they can be left alone; and anything that may trigger anxiety and other behaviors we may want to avoid. I usually opt for overnight stays and/or drop ins in your home, so that everything I need is available. I also believe that routine is very important for most animals, and not having to change environments helps with that. That said, I am open to caring for pets in my home, but this will be on a case-by-case basis and I will need you to pack a care-bag with everything your pet needs. I am also open to helping to groom and/or maintain your pet, but note that I am not a professional pet groomer. I cannot confidently give your poodle a Continental clip, but I will happily learn what I can do tell help maintain one. That said, feel free to just ask for what you need and I will honestly tell you whether or not that is something I am capable of accommodating. Thank you!!

A typical day

I love being active, and I can be super energetic - making sure to play with your dog, take them to the park, run them, and whatever other exercise they may need. I can also be lazy with your pup and spend a chill day at home with them.

At the moment, I am transitioning out of my current job, so I have a ton of free-time! I would love to incorporate pet-care into my daily routine, and maybe even go full-time with it! I love being active, as I am very energetic, and find some much peace spending time with animals.
