We chose Simone because it was our first time using DogVacay and we were comfortable with the fact that she has a pit bull around Pac's age. Pac is not usually around other dogs, so we felt good that he was running around the yard playing with Simone's dog when we left. She kept us updated on his interactions with other dogs and sent us a few pics. We were confident with our decision until we came to pick him up. Simone was out running errands, so her sister was there for us to get Pac. It was around 8pm when we picked him up and the first thing we noticed is that he was dirty. We initially chalked it to him being at the park, but then we noticed he had sticky pieces of hair alongside his jaw. We thought it could possibly be saliva from another dog and when we tilted his head back we noticed scratches all over from the bottom of his neck to his tail. We asked if he had been in a fight and at that time Simone assured us that wasn't the case. Upon sending her pictures, she stated that they were flea bites from the park and her dog had them, too. Apparently her sister had called the park and found out they were the source. At no time were we notified that our dog had flea bites because no one noticed until we pointed it out. They went to the dog park on Monday and we picked him up on Wednesday. In fact the park wasn't open on Tuesday or Wednesday when Simone's sister allegedly called, so there was no other time at which he could've gotten them. Pac's underbelly is white and the markings were the first thing we saw driving under street lights. Imagine coming fresh off of the plane and picking up your dog only to have to buy flea and tick wash along with antibiotics. It wasn't an awesome feeling on top of him coming home and downing two bowls of water because of diarrhea after we sent him with food. We thought he may need to go to the vet, but he's been making progress throughout the day. Not to mention that we would've been responsible for a $250 deductible if we chose to utilize DogVacay's insurance. Perhaps this was just a mishap in all of Simone's years of experience, but it's one we will not soon forget.
