Day school is a specialized daycare service including: - Supervised and guided socialization with other balanced, trained, and safe dogs in my private fenced-in backyard - Daily private training for your dog, broken into short sessions throughout their day, following an individual training plan (see below) - Supervised nap time/"calm in the crate" training with each dog in their own comfy crate - a daily neighborhood walk for dogs who need leash training - a "go home" session with you at pick-up to show you what your dog learned and how to keep up the same learning at home. (due to COVID-19, we will maintain social distancing guidelines during this session and I will carefully hand off the dog to you). - an end-of-day Report Card that recaps what we worked on and the progress we made. Plus personalized "homework" for you and your dog to practice before their next session! - photos and updates during every stay Training Services: (check out my training videos on Instagram: @wehodogtrainer) I specialize in training basic obedience for puppies and adults, (Sit, Stay, Down, Place, Recall), leash manners (Heel), stopping pulling and reactivity (barking/lunging) on leash, crate training, off-leash recall (Come), and fixing common unwanted behaviors such as barking, nipping, and jumping. Training sessions take place in my real home environment to more closely simulate your dog's real life with you at home. We train in a variety of locations, including the yard, the living room, and the kitchen, depending on what behavior we are teaching. For dogs who need leash training or off-leash recall training, we typically train at or around the West Hollywood Park and Pacific Design Center. My personal dog Aonghus often accompanies me during our training sessions to provide a helpful training distraction to your dog - helping them learn to listen and behave reliably, even with another high-energy dog present. After that we'll arrange a free Meet & Greet/Consultation to make sure we're the perfect match. I look forward to hearing from you! FAQ: - Dogs must be at least 4 months old and fully vaccinated to join day school. If you have a younger dog, I am still available for private training, so feel free to reach out. - Day school is open from 9am-5pm. Each dog will be scheduled to spend a minimum of 4 hours and up to 8 hours with me, depending on their training needs. Each day of school, you will arrive to pick up your pup 30 mins before the end of the day for their "go home" session. This is when I show you what they have learned and give you their homework to continue you at home until their next session. - For days longer than 8 hours, an additional daily rate of $25 applies. - I take a maximum of 3 dogs at school per day to ensure your dog gets plenty of individual attention and training. - Most dogs come to day school on a recurring weekly basis, allowing for several days in between for you to practice their homework at home. I offer programs for puppies and adult dogs of varying lengths depending on your training goals. Each dog who comes to day school will have their own custom training plan which you and I will discuss and develop together. My background: I have grown up with dogs my whole life and couldn't imagine life without them. My goldador Aonghus is my best buddy! I love to go on hiking and camping adventures with him. He accompanies me to dog-friendly cafes and stores around West Hollywood too. We're inseparable! I started my training journey through volunteering and fostering dogs in Austin, Texas for the Austin Animal Center and Austin Pets Alive. I have fostered many dogs, including seniors, puppies, and dogs with disabilities and behavioral struggles. I made the transition to training owners and their personal dogs two years ago. Working closely with dogs to help them live their best life with their owners is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling for me, and I can't wait to meet your dog too!
