Leader of the Pack

Pet care experience

There is no love like the unconditional love of a dog. While we love all of our pets, it is the canine that willingly loves us with no prerequisite. Because of this purity I firmly believe that the world would be a better place if everyone had a dog. I grew up watching my grandfather train herding dogs so I specialize in engaging working dog breeds. I am convinced that if you can keep the attention of a working dog, you can lead the pack for most any other highly active breed so we facilitate a very active and stimulating environment. We have a non-profit organization "Desert Dogs for Veterans". We have an amazing support group consisting of veterans, the most amazing vet tech ever, and one of the top dog trainers in the Las Vegas Valley. Our mission is to provide Australian Cattle Dogs to Veterans as well as fund the training for Service, Therapy, and Companion Dogs. Caring for other people's fur-kids is one of the ways that we fund our organization. It also provides our dogs with opportunities to associate with many different fur-kids for very rich socialization opportunities. You can be sure that when your fur-kid is in our home, he/she is experiencing all of the same quick training sessions that our pups are experiencing in the guise of games and treat opportunities. We have a special needs dog, who is a retired service dog, so we are familiar with many of the holistic and/or traditional avenues some dog owners use to approach arthritis, thyroid disorders, bone and joint disease, as well as visual and hearing impairments. Your dog will never be left alone or unsupervised. Additionally, my daughter is a Vet Tech Intern so she is always on top of monitoring the health of our dogs. While we are always in some form of training mode, we do still treat our pups like children and we love them in that manner. It is imperative that we feel you are as dedicated to your pup as we are to ours. It is unfortunate to have to state but leaving your pup with no contact back to our attempts to reach you for as long as 8 hours past the scheduled pick up time is wholly unacceptable, irresponsible, and demonstrates a lack of respect for your loved one and the people caring for him/her. (Yes, this actually happened.) Only book us if you are as dedicated to your fur-kid as you would be to your real child. On a brighter note: you will receive photo and video updates while your pup is in our care. For all overnight stays, the final result is a fun music video collection that you can post to your FB for your friends and family. Not the one that Rover.com creates. These are pretty cute but mine are custom with a far greater range of customization and music.

Shell was very knowledgeable about dogs. It was easy no stress with Shelly. My dog is a rescue 2 year old put. Some sitters may have had anxiety but Shelly welcomed my fog into her pack. I will definitely ask Shelly again when I need a dog sitter

In one word, it was "easy" with Shellie. From the first meeting at the local dog park, to the drop off and pick up, it was "easy". I could tell that Jackson (Doberman) enjoyed his stay with his fur-buddies (Heelers) and we are looking forward to future visits with Shellie and her pack.

Shellie and her daughter Kimeron are amazing! Disco goes for day care or boarding at least once a week & he has so much fun all day when he comes home he just catches up on some well needed sleep. They are very knowledgeable and friendly people who keep me updated on Disco's stay with texts and pictures! We are so happy we have found someone we can trust to keep Disco entertained and safe while we are at work or out of town! Love them!!!!

What an absolutely wonderful experience! And Shell was so helpful with listening to our concerns, one of which was socialization. She brought her dog with, as requested, and allowed for some puppy playtime. What a helpful activity. Lacey was so happy!

Information Shellie G. would like to know about your pet

We want to know anything you want to tell us. The more the better. Does your furkid eat on a schedule? How much? Kennel trained? House trained? Where does your pup prefer to sleep? Does your pup have anything in particular that creates fear aggression? Does your pup have object possession aggression issues? So on and so forth...

A typical day

We have three dogs of our own so socialization is a given. We have an above ground pool for the climbers and swimmers, we keep a small kiddie pool filled for the less adventuresome dogs, a large backyard for the wrestlers, a growing set of agility equipment, and a large park directly behind the house for walks, and the beautiful Craig Ranch Regional Dog Park 1 mile away.
