Experienced and trustworthy

Pet care experience

I grew up dog sitting and walking for neighborhood families. I actively held neighborhood dog washes and fell in love with everything "dog-care." As I got older I had the amazing experience of volunteering for Guide Dogs of America as a puppy raiser. Through this, I have gained ample training and socializing skills as well as knowing how to work with puppies. I also volunteered with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Los Angeles for three years where I learned to work with several breeds and several temperaments. Additionally, I cared for my family's pomeranian, Patches, who in her old age (14 years!) had severe seizures and needed extra special care. I am taking my gap year after graduating from university so my week is very free and I am very flexible! At most, your furry friend will be home alone for a couple of hours a day. I prioritize your animal's care and want to ensure they have a happy, safe, stress-free experience in my home. I have a seven-year-old really friendly black labrador to keep your pup company while you are away. I am able to meet your dog's needs, whether that is as a patient caregiver to alleviate any stress they may have, someone to administer important medicine, or just a friendly face to give your dog a day of great play, I will be there happy and willing!

Sheila did such a good job. She took our dogs for walks, gave them lots of attention and made sure our home was well taken care of. It was nice to know we didn’t have to worry about our pets when we were away.

Great communication. Tender loving care. Positive attitude. And follows directions. These are just some of the few qualities I see in Sheila after 4 years of knowing her and having her take care of my dogs! Sheila took care of my 2 dogs (a beautiful 6yr German Shepard and a loving but wild 1yr Border Collie) when I was out of town on a number of occasions and every time I come back, it is almost as if my dogs were somehow better trained then when I had left them. Every morning and evening I would receive prompt messages from Sheila as to the status of my dogs. I was very please with everything that she did as it seemed as if she did more than what I could had asked for! On top of all this, she never said no, and always had a smile on her face.

Information Sheila J. would like to know about your pet

It is important for me to know the general temperament of your dog ahead of time. How much exercise is typical/required to keep your dog healthy and happy? Any quirks that may seem out of the ordinary but actually are part of your dog's personality are important so I can get a better understanding of your pup's behavior. Additionally, any medications or special procedures your dog requires will be helpful for me to give the best possible care!

A typical day

I love to take dogs in my care to the Davis Greenbelt for a fun day! This is perfect for both energetic dogs and dogs that just want a relaxing stroll in the neighborhood. Another favorite spot we have is Starbucks (because let's be honest, who can resist a pup-cup?!)
