Hi, I’m Shayla. Growing up, there were always canines around. I am of Hawaiian descent, and my dad and his dad used to go hunting and bring dogs with them. They both trained all of my Papa's dogs themselves which taught me how and when to be strict and loving with a pup as well as the best way to care for them. Right now, we have five dogs in the family, but there's always more coming in and out of the house. I started dog sitting for friends and family in high school and absolutely loved it! When I moved to Chicago to continue my education, I needed a job. I wanted to continue pet sitting, but since I was new to the area, I didn’t know anyone. That's when I found Rover and signed up. Since then, I've had over a dozen clients and even more bookings. I am a student and have another part-time job in addition to Rover. My schedule is busy, but flexible because I create my own hours and work from home. I will take your pet’s feelings into consideration and try my best to make their stay with me as comfortable as possible. Your pooch will leave happy, if not happier, than when you dropped them off. I am a very active person –– I play volleyball regularly and am always moving. This makes me an ideal pet sitter for bigger dogs that need significant exercise every day.

Shayla and Nate have been my go to sitters for Nelly for every trip. They are super flexible with drop off and pick up times and even have let me extend trips a few times if needed! I get daily pictures of Nelly and she always gets so excited as soon as we get to their house! I never have to worry about Nelly while I'm away.

It really is a peace of mind when you know your dog is in good hands! Shayla/Nathan and Sprinkles had a great connection when they first met. Both of them were very friendly, attentive, caring, and loving to our dog. They both work great as a couple! Thank you guys for being so flexible and so easy to work with. Sprinkles always enjoys your company. We highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.

I do not have any breed or size preferences –– I am an advocate for all pets! I only prefer prior notice beforehand on the size of your pup and how well they socialize with other animals. All dogs are born with the brightest intentions, and I believe revealing this just takes the right kind of attention and care which I am dedicated to providing.
A typical day
When I meet a new dog, I connect with them by trying to bribe them first. If that works, I’ll go in for some belly rubs and puppy talk. If it doesn’t work, I might resort to treats to try to calm them down and gain their trust. When I care for your pooch, we’ll go on lots of walks. I usually start at my apartment and continue my way toward the more open areas of my neighborhood. There are schools, fields, and parks just a few minutes away which most pups love, but my favorite walking route is the lakefront. I’ll send you daily pictures and videos of your pet while you’re away so you can have peace of mind knowing that your pooch is happy and in good hands. I offer every possible type of pet sitting service to my clients to ensure that they have an option that works for them. My schedule is flexible, but if I’m ever unavailable, my boyfriend, Nate, will be there to give your dog the attention, love, and care they deserve.
