Pet care experience
I’ve loved animals my entire life. I’ve had my own dogs since I was 5 and cats since I was 15. I currently work at a doggy daycare, boarding, and hiking facility called Workindoggz in Hayward, CA. There, I handle roughly 50 dogs a day and around 8 dogs (4 per person) on hikes. I used to work at an intense dog training business called Spectrum K9 in Fremont, CA and worked there for 2 years as a kennel technician. Because of these experiences I can handle any dog and any amount of dogs. Since I was young, my neighbors relied on me to work at their dog boarding business and take care of their own pets when they were away on trips. I have years of experience working with a variety of breeds and temperaments. I’ve also taken care of many cats, rabbits, horses, chickens, fish, frogs, snakes, and lizards so whatever animals you have, I can care for them.
Reviews
Shawna was awesome, she sent us regular updates with pics and videos to boot, and my (somewhat persnickety) pup took a liking to her immediately. She was very kind and trustworthy. I will definitely book her again soon without reservation, highly highly recommend!
Shawna always does a great job walking our dog!
Shawna is responsible and caring. We are comfortable leaving our 70 pound dog with her. Shawna responds quickly to us and always leaves a detailed message after her time with Zoz. We are lucky to have found her.
This was Shawna’s first walk with Zoz. It was successful and we are looking forward to further walks.

I often take my dogs on hikes or scenic walks as well as the usual walk in the neighborhood. I’d like to go on runs with my dogs, unfortunately they’re unathletic, so I will borrow a dog from my neighbors or work to run with. I often carry a portable dog bowl on longer/hotter walks and treats for any opportunity to train or distract them if they are reactive. I love playing fetch and tug-of-war with my dogs and providing mental games with lick mats and snuff mats. Since my dogs are white, they get many baths and I find ways to make them more comfortable (I’ve also had to give my cats a fair share of baths). This includes filling the tub with warm water before they are in the room, laying a towel down in the tub for better grip, and using a cup instead of the shower head so the noise doesn’t scare them. My dogs are not crate trained but where I work, all the dogs are crate trained. My pets get two meals a day with a very complicated mix of ingredients and a few treats throughout the day. I am used to waking up early to let the dogs out to go potty and/or letting chickens out of the coop. One of my dogs is very old and receives daily medications and she also has incontinence and I am therefore used to administering medication as well as cleaning up many accidents. One of my dogs is also blind and deaf so I have experience caring for special needs in dogs.
Information Shawna R. would like to know about your pet
I’d like to know how your dog is on a leash, if they have any reactivity issues, if they have any allergies, what their favorite activities are, what emergency vet you use, and any regular grooming you’d like me to do. If you want me to know something please tell me, there’s never enough information when it comes to keeping your babies safe.
A typical day
Daily walks are important and I let the dogs I walk sniff however much they want. I have experience taking multiple dogs on walks at a time as well as taking dogs on multiple walks a day. I also go on runs with more athletic and energetic dogs. Additionally, I think mental stimulation is just as important as physical stimulation. So besides going on runs and walks, I’d like to bring snuff mats and lick mats to entertain your pets. I also love playing fetch and tug-of-war with dogs as well as just cuddles on the couch.
