Snuggles and pets!

Pet care experience

Hi my name is Shauna and my lifelong passion has been all things Canidae! If you need a pet sitter who's experienced with dogs big & small from little napoleons to shy bessies look no further. Different dogs have different needs; my approach is to respect your dog as the individual that they are, while providing boundaries. I've owned soft (sensitive) and hard temperament dogs; and am comfortable with both types. I am familiar with handling those who are dog-reactive. As an owner of shy dogs; I understand how to respect their needs. Owning a large dog I am also very responsive and will share plenty of pictures of your furrkid while I'm with them. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking, being at the beach, habitat restoration (removing invasive plant species),and breeding Platties (fish). I am a big fan of wildlife conservation. I am VERY familiar with dogs who have allergies (I've had 3!) and am used to giving medication, ear cleaning, and things of that nature. I am also experienced with house-training, and can assist if you have a puppy. I can also work on some basic commands with your dog like "sit" and "down". It's always fun figuring out what gets your dog motivated! I have been a volunteer at the Silicon Valley Wildlife center, a wildlife animal hospital. There I fed, administered medication, and cleaned animal-patient enclosures for local wildlife such as squirrels, geese, crows, hawks, song birds, and opossums. The biggest raptor I've fed has been a red-tail hawk! I grew up with goats, chickens, quail, rabbits, horses, dogs, cats, fish, birds, snakes, lizards, rats, mice... I love all critters! I've owned and/or grown up around the following breeds: Labrador retrievers, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, a Whippet/shepherd mix, Chihuahuas, Dachshunds, a Maltese-mix, Corgis, and a Tamaskan. My experience administering medication: Yes - with the exception of injections. We can work on creating a detailed schedule of when medication should be given, dosage, and method of application.

Shauna is truly a wonderful dog sitter. She has a calm energy which is great for my 2 1/2 year-old sherpherd/lab mix, who has a bit of anxiety. I can always tell that Lana had a lot of exercise with Shauna, since she's always tuckered out when I come home. As an in-home sitter, Shauna is very clean and considerate. I receive lots of pictures and updates from Shauan while I'm gone, and she is very responsive. These are very important to an admittedly obsessive dog-mom like me :) Shauna is also very flexible and easy to work with. She's become a favorite and Lana LOVES her.

Shauna was nothing less than fabulous with our dog Rosebud. She really shows her love and care when she takes care of your dog. I felt confident leaving for vacation knowing Shauna was going to be taking care of my pet. She is very sensitive to the needs of the dog and respects the animals and shows love and care as well. Shauna is a very nice and considerate person and I felt completely safe leaving her my key and having her watch Rosebud. I would definitely use her again. Thanks Shauna for everything!

Shauna is amazing with the dogs! Before the first day she stopped by and took notes of what each of my puppies needs were and got to to know them. Every day she took them on a nice walk and sent photos and texts to let me know how they were doing. My dogs look so happy in the pictures and I can work comfortable knowing that they are being well cared for during the day. Thanks Shauna!

Thank you very much for taking such good care of our Cocoa. We couldn't have asked for a better experience or a nicer family. We will definitely reach out to you next time our travel plans require boarding for our dog.

Information Shauna C. would like to know about your pet

I love all breeds! Will your dog have outdoor access for restroom breaks? Are there any signals your dog gives when they need to take a break "outside"? Is your dog allergic to anything? What is your dog's favorite treat? Are there any treats or foods your pet should NOT have? What's your dog's favorite thing to do? Are there are any spots where your dog does NOT like to be touched? Example, ears, paws, toes, belly... Are there any behaviors I should continue while you're away? Ex. Asking your pet to sit before I serve their meal. Please share any other traits or behaviors that you think I should be aware of in order to provide your pet the best experience ever!
