Loving dog mom

Pet care experience

I’ve owned and taken care of a pet since I was 7 years old. I currently have a special needs dog who is blind. My experience is with dogs and cats. I am a true animal lover and think of pets as part of the family.

One of the things that makes Shannon M. an awesome human being is her love and compassion for our furry friends. Additionally, there haven’t been many days in her life that Shannon has not owned a pet herself or been growing up in her family with pets. Currently Shannon and her husband own a dog named Abigail, who is a rescued Yorkie. Over the course of the years that they have owned her, Abigail has almost completely lost her vision due to retinal atrophy. This has not prevented Shannon, or her husband, from totally loving Abigail. Additionally, they have their veterinarian come to their home, for any services that can be done at home, to ensure Abigail is more comfortable. Also, Abigail is not the only dog that Shannon has rescued. When Shannon was still in her teenage years her parents separated, leaving questions about what would happen to the family’s Golden Retriever. Shannon asked her mother’s parents if they’d be willing to take him, especially since her grandparents lived on a ten-acre piece of property, and Jaba, the Golden, had been raised on similar property just down the road. Shortly after securing a new home for Jaba, Shannon became aware of a Cocker Spaniel named Butterscotch whose “parents’ were divorcing; the father was moving out of state and the mother was moving into an apartment that would not allow pets. Shannon asked her mother to please adopt Butterscotch, which she did, and Butterscotch became a very special member of the family as well, thanks to Shannon. Also, prior to Abigail, Shannon owned a dog named Sadie, who was a precious Labrador Retriever. Shannon bought Sadie as a puppy, while in college, as she was so used to living with a furry friend that life wasn’t as fulfilling without one. Shannon was always a wonderful “Mommy” to Sadie, but was incredibly compassionate and loving towards the end of Sadie’s life when she was living with her issues with hip dysplasia. In summary, I don’t think anyone could provide safer, or more loving care, for your pet than Shannon.
