Hi! I am a queer vegan and I absolutely adore animals 🐾💜🌱 By trade, I am a ninth grade English teacher at a small art school, but taking care of animals is a mega passion of mine. Being a full-time teacher and part-time grad student is great, but being around such seriousness all the time can get exhausting. That's why I love caring for animals. It's wonderful to not think so much about words for a change. As a vegan, I adore all animals and strongly believe that they should have their own autonomy. Animals are not objects for humxns to control. I wish that humxns and animals could coexist peacefully. Therefore, I firmly believe in positive reinforcement, like clicker training. I refuse to use shock or prong collars. I do have experience working and socializing with animals. I lived with a senior cat for many years. I have worked as a full-time volunteer for one month at a sanctuary for farmed animals, where I learned to care for chickens, goats, pigs, cows, and other animals. And I volunteer regularly at Oakland Animal Services. As a full-time teacher, I cannot currently commit to living full-time with another animal. Someday I hope to change that, but in the meantime, sitting for companion animals is a great substitute. The only sad part is when I have to say goodbye at the end of my stay. Long story short, I love getting to know animals just as much, and sometimes even more than I love getting to know other people.
