Let me pamper your pup

Pet care experience

***PLEASE BE METRO/BUS ACCESSIBILE AS I DON’T OWN A CAR!*** Currently only available for drop-in visits and walks. I am a kind, warm, and thoughtful academic who recently graduated with his PhD in December 2018. I am available for dog walking or dropping in to play with your pet to show him/her/them some attention and love. I am attentive to detail and respect my client's wishes. I don't own a car so I use public transit to get around the DMV area. I am a mature, responsible adult who just loves dogs and playing with them! I grew up and have lived with dogs most of my life, from lapdogs to Golden Retrievers. I did some dog walking and dog sitting in high school.

Scott was awesome! He cared for our sensitive, anxious whippet while we were out of town. Our pup had a great time and he was totally cared for.

We would not recommend Scott P. as a dog/house sitter for a number of reasons. Scott’s lack of situational awareness, lack of consistency, lack of honesty, and lack of compassion caused my partner and I concern on several occasions while we were recently on vacation. Lack of situational awareness: We paid Scott to watch our dogs from February 22nd through March 2nd. A total of 8 days at $60/day. We noticed on the morning of March 2nd that there had been no motion sensor activity on our doors in over 16 ½ hours. Scott contends that when we indicated that we’d be “getting in around midnight on the 2nd”, this meant he could leave on March 1st . This would have given him an extra day of pay for no service. In full transparency, here is that note: <<Hi Scott -
Thanks again for coming to watch the girls.
I put a new bag of food into their container so you should be all set for the duration of the trip. We'll leave some treats out in the kitchen when we leave.
Our flight leaves at 7:30 AM tomorrow, so we'll be gone pretty early. The girls should be okay through the afternoon. We'll make sure they get a good potty in before we leave. We'll be getting in around midnight on the 2nd, but you're good to leave them anytime mid-afternoon or so.>> Scott did 7 days of work for the price of 8 and did not question the extra day of pay from his incorrect interpretation of our note. Additionally, unlike every previous Rover sitter we have used, there was no communication from Scott after the conclusion of his time that could have let us know he had considered his time complete and that the dogs were now on their own. This simple communication could have prevented the dogs from being alone for such an extended period overnight and should be a standard practice for any Rover.com sitter. Lack of consistency: Despite written instructions on when to feed the dogs (evenings), Scott seemingly fed the dogs at times convenient to his schedule, which ranged from 3pm until after 11pm depending on the day. Timestamped video footage of our basement security camera is available to highlight this practice. Anyone who owns a dog knows they function on routine. Scott’s decision broke our dogs of their routine and was an unacceptable breach of our trust that he would follow the instructions detailed in-person and on Rover.com. Lack of honesty: Scott sent a couple of messages that are not substantiated with video footage. Scott sent the following message on 3/1 at 12:52 PM: <<So Daphne opened the door to the basement while I was in the living room. I didn’t notice right away and when I came down she had chewed on the black box in one of the corners. She didn’t reach the food.>> Scott had piled the couch cushions and pillows from the living room on the other seating areas in the room thus leaving no place to sit. We believe the couch was in disarray because he had tried to clean up a mess of some sort Daphne had left on the couch 4 days earlier and he had not yet returned it to its normal state in the days that followed. Despite having no place to sit, security camera footage confirms Scott did not spend any time in the living room during the time prior to his message nor did it show any footage of Daphne in the basement chewing on the dog food box. The box he describes had been chewed, but again, video footage indicates the chewing incident occurred on Saturday, February 23rd, not March 1st (although even on this date, there was still no footage of Scott sitting in the living room to correspond to his message). An additional example of Scott’s dishonesty was in indicating when he left the house on March 1st. In his message Scott stated the following: <<I did stay until around 5 last night but like I said I was going off based your first text which said you were returning around midnight last night and that I could leave in the late afternoon. I just got off the phone with customer support and they confirmed I was acting off what you said. However if you want a refund for last night I would have no problem with that assuming Rover didn’t either. My utmost concern is your satisfaction and the welfare of the dogs, and I know from experience they do not do well when left on their own (especially Daphne).>> Video footage shows Scott’s departure time as being around 3:30pm, not 5pm as he states. Lack of compassion: Because of these incidents, we more thoroughly reviewed the video footage over the entire period. We were disturbed to see that when Scott entered the house, he did not talk to or interact with the dogs. We would not expect a “dog lover” to not greet or pet our dogs when they have been left for a period of time. The only time he seemed to be more interactive was when he brought a friend with him but the friend appeared to pay more attention to the dogs than Scott did. We have downloaded all relevant timecoded video footage of Scott’s stay to conclusively validate each of the points in the review above and will gladly make it available to Rover support for review. These cameras were not meant to monitor Scott, but were fortunately part of our home security system given the circumstances at hand. If the motion sensors had not alerted us to the lack of Scott’s presence, our dogs would have been left alone for an unacceptable period of over 30 hours. Scott’s actions and poor communication betrayed our trust, caused us to worry while on our vacation, and ultimately left our dogs in a bad situation. Again, we would not recommend Scott to anyone for their pet sitting needs.

Information Scott P. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know about their personality, their attitudes toward strangers, any medical conditions or allergies I need to be aware of, etc. Basically the common sense things an owner would want someone to know about their dog! I have no preferences when it comes to breed.
