Active Shaker Dad; Works from Home

Pet care experience

I'm partially retired and also do some work from home so my schedule is pretty flexible. I love to be outside and dog walks are something that fits that love of the outdoors quite well. Our beloved dog passed away a little while ago and we currently do not have our own pet, but I really enjoy time with dogs and helping others care for and love their dogs. We only have 1 dog stay with us at a time, so if your pooch stays with us, they will get all of our attention! We regularly have human guests that come for dinner or for extended stays and now we are excited to welcome your four-legged family members as guests and temporary members of our family too. When we had our dog, she always stayed with a family in their home when we were out of town and it was a wonderful experience for her (and the family she stayed with). Now it's my turn to provide that for other families that are out of town.

Scott was absolutely phenomenal ! He took such good care of our dog and gave us daily updates and pictures of him. He made sure to know what our dog’s routine was and to ensure he was the most comfortable possible. Knowing that Napoleon was in such good hands truly helped make our vacation so much better and without any worries. Thank you Scott for everything, we will definitely reach out again for our next vacation away.

We are really happy with the care and attention Scott gave our dog in his home. You could definitely see that she was treated as part of the family and she felt very comfortable. He provided updates with pics and made the whole process easy and worry-free for us too!

Jasper had a wonderful time at Scott’s! He was so well taken care of. I give high praise to Scott and would definitely send our dog to him again.

When our quirky bichon, Danny came home, he readjusted to our regular routine immediately. That tells me he was very well cared for and enjoyed his visit with Scott and his family.Scott really paid attention to the details and kept us in the loop with his updates. I am glad I found a great, convenient sitter for our little boy!

We care for one dog at a time and incorporate them into our lives like part of our family. We always walk the dogs or take them out using their leash since we do not have a fence around our property.

Information Scott A. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences, we like all types of dogs. Before sitting for a dog for the first time I always do a meet & greet so your dog can meet me and I can meet your dog. I'd like to know that they are house trained and can spend the night in their crate or sleeping in their own bed. Dogs that sleep in rooms with humans will not work at our house as we do not allow them in our rooms at night. Sorry, no exceptions. If they sleep in your room at all they won't be a good fit with us. In fact, if you are seeking an overnight stay longer than one night we require that your pooch do a free one-night trial run. After having many doggie clients we've learned that some dogs have separation anxiety or miss their home and are just not comfortable in another home. We (and the owners) don't want the dog to be unhappy for a long stay in that situation which is why we do a one-night trial run to be totally sure that your pooch will be comfortable here. After the one-night trial, when your dog comes back for a longer stay, they will recognize the smell of our place, know that it is safe/fun, and also know that their owners will be back at some point to get them. We don't allow dogs in our beds (or bedrooms) at night, but we welcome them to sit with us on our furniture when we are relaxing or watching TV/movies. Other questions that are helpful to answer: Are they leash trained not to pull excessively while on walks? Does the dog have anything that scares them or causes them stress? How can I help their stay be more peaceful and enjoyable? I'd like to know what food they eat or if they have any special treats they like. We didn't feed our dog human food, but if that is desired, I would want to know that too. Would also want to know if there are certain things your dog likes to play with so I can make sure they have fun during their stay. For dog walking services, I'm not able to commit to an everyday/full-time walking arrangement. I am however excellent to use when you regular walker is temporarily unavailable or if you just need a few walks here and there.

A typical day

We live in Shaker Hts and have ample sidewalks and dedicated walking trails to take dogs on walks. We typically take the dogs that stay with us for 2 walks a day (morning and afternoon) in addition to any other normal potty breaks.
