Pet care experience
I've cared for pets and homes on several continents. As a writer I spend most of my time IN or around your home, so your pet will not lack attention. I care for dogs large and small, puppy to geriatric. (I charge more for puppy care - if you have one you know why.) I've supervised cats from mellow to maniacal. Can handle most grooming tasks basic vet care such as shots and subcutaneous hydration, medication and wound care. I will accommodate special dietary needs, and prepare raw or cooked. I deal out more positive reinforcement and affection than discipline. Giving a fresh perspective to your animals behaviors, I can usually suss out any issues cropping up (unlike humans, animal behaviors tend to be straightforward.) I've trained my own dogs for ESA and AKC Good Citizenship, as well as for hospice visitation and therapy work. (I'm currently dog-less, having lost my 12 year old Aussie to time.) On the house-care front: having renovated four finicky Victorian houses so know how to turn off a water main; fix a toilet; locate the breaker box; drain a radiator; extinguish a chimney fire, and rouse a plumber. Reviews
We couldn't have asked for a more professional sitter than Sarah. She took great care of our elderly cats and our home! We would love to have her sit for us again and we highly recommend her!
This was our first experience with Rover and Sarah was absolutely fantastic! Our dog Wolfie is 3 years old and has a tough time with other dogs and children. Sarah did a great job of administering daily medications and providing a safe and fun atmosphere for Wolfie. We feel that we could be at ease while Sarah was in our home and knowing that Wolfie was in great hands! We would definitely use her again!
Our dog Odie is in love with Sarah. He literally cried (whined) when it was time for her to leave. Sarah was completely committed and in tune to caretaking our dog, an energetic and loving two year old GSP. She walked him the recommended 4 miles each day, arranged play dates for him, and on top if it all took excellent care of our home in our absence. She’s the ten star deal... grab her while you can!!!!! Lin S
Sarah took care of our field spaniel, Maggie, many times over the last ten years both in our home and hers. Don't hesitate to hire her - she is dog-smart, conscientious and loved our Maggie like our own. Even when there were geriatric challenges Sarah handled our aging girl with patience and care. She kept us updated with email and photos while we were away, and left our home and lake cabin in perfect order. Bonus points if her husband Jon is involved - he is an excellent photographer and we treasure the great shots he sent us now that Maggie is gone. We are getting a new pup this month and Sarah will be at the top of our list when we need a trusted sitter.

Information Sarah S. would like to know about your pet
Walking and social behaviors, level of training, car behavior, leash manners and what sort of leash owner uses (I don't use or advocate zip leashes). Is your dog food-motivated? What is their toileting routine? I love most breeds, but have a soft spot for working and hunting breeds.
A typical day
I prefer repeat stays of three or more days in either urban or rural settings. Once your pet and I develop a relationship it makes your next leaving less stressful. I will happily work on basic training and whatever teachable tricks or tasks. I am a fit walker, so we will spend ample outdoor time, rain or shine. Frisbee, ball, fetch, dog park, swim, and, for dogs that require running, I own a Finnish push-bike, designed for 'summer mushing'. I will keep a log of our daily activity upon request. I do charge more for multiple animals, puppies and special care - details we can work out upon meeting.
