Pet care experience
I work out of my home so I am available for all of the pet services I offer 24/7 365 days a year. No hour is too late or early for me. I'm available weekdays, weekends and even on holidays. All my services include complementary pet pick up and drop off! (My services are currently available to all pet owners within a 60-mile radius of zip code 98632 but I am very flexible!) I am available for dog walking (one or more simultaneously, up to 3 at a time), feeding animals, cleaning cages or litter boxes, supplying treats and meals, stimulating pets through mental games and physical activity, providing companionship and comfort, shampooing/bathing and fur brushing as well as administering oral medications. I have experience with dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, horses, goats, freshwater aquarium fish and so many others! All of my experience comes from owning all of these animals personally or working with them extensively in the past. I currently own a yellow lab named Mumble, a mini-lop rabbit named Erik and 3 Fancy Dumbo rat sisters named Flora, Fauna & Merryweather. I have known Sarah Smiley for over 20 years, and I would trust her to take the best care of my home and pets while I am away. She is a huge animal lover, and she has years of experience taking care of a wide variety of animals, from rabbits, rats, and aquariums to small and large breed dogs, to horses and goats! She will even take your dog for a real on-leash run if that's something you're interested in, and I know my dog loves to go for runs. I really can't recommend her enough. I trust her with my animals' lives, and my animals are my babies.
Sarah knows her stuff and clearly loves dogs! I was worried about leaving my babies over the holidays, but came back to find both of them reluctant to leave! She's patient and loving but knows when to put her foot down for the more stubborn/hyper of my two.

Information Sarah S. would like to know about your pet
I always want to have the client's contact information as well as information about where they will be and how to get ahold of them while they are away. I also want to know an emergency contact's name and phone number, a current vet's information, their pet's current food and treat schedule, any medical issues I should know about and any behavioral issues I should be aware of. I have a short survey I give to all my clients so I can get to know their pet(s) better.
A typical day
For Overnight Stays: During the day the pets are offered owner approved treats/toys (such as KONGs) and go on 2+ walks (one being first thing in the morning and the other happening right before bed). We will take our walks in their own neighborhood so they will feel safe and relaxed. They receive personalized and individualized attention with play toys like Tug O' War or whatever they like best. If there is a fenced yard available they'll have the opportunity to run around and chase a ball or frisbee. (Playtime at a local dog park can be arranged with an owner's approval.) They receive their meals based on their regular feeding schedule and have the opportunity to potty outside whenever they need to. At bedtime, they'll receive lots of cuddling and snuggle time and they can either sleep where I am sleeping or sleep in their normal nighttime sleeping spot. For Drop-in Visits: Pets are fed, given fresh water, given a homemade treat (with the owner's permission first), some individualized attention and play time, some snuggles, ample opportunity to potty outside, and a short walk to stretch their legs and sniff. Each drop-in visit is 30 minutes in length unless arrangements are made otherwise. For Dog Walks: Each dog is given the opportunity to walk at their own pace whether it be fast and quick (I'm prepared to jog the whole distance if that's what they want to do) or slow; stopping at every little thing to sniff and smell. It's all about what they want to do. Each walk is 30 minutes in length unless arrangements are made otherwise.
