I have worked with animals off and on for a total of eight years now! Dogs! Cats! Birds! Reptiles! You name it. But now I am an at-home music teacher and I miss meeting and caring for new animals. As well as missing out on creating bonds and friendships with these sweet critters. My dog and cat love our house. The dog bounces around the fenced backyard and comes into the house where her and her brother (cat) share the entire guest room as their own personal bedroom. Since I have eczema and asthma and some of my music students are allergic to animals - the pets aren’t allowed on the couch or my own bed. But these limitations have never stopped me from caring for animals and still providing a relaxing and happy environment for my pets. I simply keep my bedroom door closed and a baby gate cuts off the living room to where the animals have free rein to the rest of the house. My favorite days are when I spend the day cooking and gardening and leave the back door open for the dogs to run in and out of the house as they please. Plus, the “pet room” has their own couch, TV (the cat likes to watch Friends), water fountain, and is covered in fluffy pillows. I know accidents happen and I have a extensive background in house keeping and a carpet shampooer for rugs and upholstery fit for any mess “emergency”.
