I grew up with a very loving Golden Retriever from the age of 12 and until I graduated High school. We rescued her from a family who had abused her. She was 7 years old when we took her home. She taught me responsibility and loyalty. We brushed her every summer and she loved outdoor baths in the lawn. She cuddled up in the living room with us on those chilly days. She was an amazing dog who was just so loving towards everyone. In my adult life my husband and I adopted a beautiful Husky/Shepard mix. She was full of life and energy. She taught us that if we left cookies out, she would eat them. She was so fun and curious of other dog friends so we would find dog parks to help her get her energy out! My sister has an amazing Belgian Malinois who we visit frequently. He is our therapy dog. We bring him out on days that my sister can't make it home in time for dinner and for potty breaks. He helps us feel so at ease when we're around that he has become a great part of our family. My 2 kids (aged 4 & 8) are great with pets and usually help out with water, feeding, bath time, walks and more. I want to teach them the same responsibility that I learned as a young child.
