Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm with animals of all kinds but have cared for just dogs and cats in recent years. My partner and I are pet-only parents (no kids) and we understand how there are just never enough hours in the day to walk our dogs for was long as we want or give our cat the cuddles she demands! If you have a similar experience, I can help by stopping by to check in on your furry friends and/or take them for walks.

And I repeat: Sarah is the gold standard! She continues to provide meaningful care on my Zeke dog’s weekly walks and seamless communication surrounding all walks. We are grateful and happy to have Sarah in our lives - as will you!
We’ve used Sarah several times to watch our cat and she’s been great! She’s great with our cat and has always been able to check on her when we’ve needed her! Would recommend to anyone :)
Sarah rocks!!!!
Sarah is gold standard and the staple of my Zeke dog’s care team. She’s been walking him every week for over a year (and clearly demonstrates patience with me). Sarah is trustworthy, reliable, communicative and vastly knowledgeable on many fronts including the animal kingdom. She goes above and beyond in caring for Zeke as well as those she doesn’t know. On countless occasions, she’s gone to help with a loose pup after walking my guy. This is a reflection of Sarah’s character. Her upbeat approach to life brings joy to Zeke with each interaction. I’m happy for those reading this to have found Sarah. She is a national treasure.

With 2 dogs and a cat at home, I don't think I could board other pets at my house at this time, though in the past I have watched several friends and family members' dogs while they are out of town so it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility. We have a fenced in yard and a very walkable neighborhood. My philosophy for pet sitting is to follow the rules and expectations that pet parents have established in their homes and for their pets. I rely on in-person conversations and detailed lists about feeding times, walking norms, personalities, etc. to guide my actions and responses. Growing up around animals (both farm and domestic), I believe I have a unique sense for understanding animals and their emotions that allows me to build trust. I am a natural pack leader in both my pet and human relationships!
Information Sarah M. would like to know about your pet
I like to know about any odd quirks that your pet may have so I am not surprised when they show me their unique qualities! Any "triggers" are helpful to know and if they have a proclivity for something (like my dog's attraction to eating cat poop...). But I like to get to know a pet myself and won't make any judgements prior to meeting them. I believe each pet and every relationship between pet and human is different and has no precedent.
A typical day
I like to take my dogs on hikes (Parker Woods, Mt. Airy, we've even gone to Red River Gorge and Asheville, NC!). Both of my dogs are older now though so we have to go slower and not as long (one of my dogs is in heart failure). I am also a runner so if your dog needs extra energy out and can handle a run, let me know! That way, both of us can get some exercise. :-) Also, I am trying to train my cat to walk outside so if any of your non-canine pets need walks, let me know!
