The only time I've ever spent living without a dog was through my 4 years away at college and it was terribly sad and lonely. So lonely that I ended up volunteering at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center in Philadelphia, PA where I learned so much about training future working k9s in their future careers as well as training them in basic obedience, agility, and fitness; all of which required a tremendous amount of patience. It was so rewarding to see all the hard work that went into training them pay off when they graduated and started their careers. Even more, I ended up fostering a few dogs on some weekends throughout my time there which exposed me to ensuring that these dogs would be comfortable in a new, unfamiliar setting.
