Experienced/loving all breed care!
Pet care experience
I understand that just like people, animals have distinctive personalities and needs and no two are the same! For this reason, I am great at caring for dogs that can be a little difficult whether they’re rescues with abuse histories and trust issues, puppies with separation anxiety, or even just the sassy ones. I have extensive large breed, bully breed, puppy, and special needs dog experience in particular. I am used to caring for pairs of dogs as well. I have taken care of dogs that are medically compromised, blind, deaf, and very reactive. I'm a part-time cognitive science researcher, and this interest has expanded into canine cognition and behavior during my years as a dog-sitter. I know how to DIY safe dog toys to keep a pup occupied (stinky gym-socks and a lacrosse ball work wonders!), acupressure techniques for soothing, and I take plenty of time to understand what your dog is trying to communicate to me about her needs. I love playing and cuddling and want to keep your dog engaged and happy while you're away. Through extensive experience with animals, I present a very patient and calm demeanor that can help build rapport with dogs and other animals. I come from an extended family of farmers, and I have worked at a wildlife refuge caring for wounded, displaced, and special needs exotic animals. From this experience, I know how to handle lots of different attitudes and individual needs. As a student and research assistant, I have very flexible daytime hours and am free daytime and nighttime on weekends. I'm an athletic and active individual and know lots of the best dog-friendly spots in the city, so I can promise to give your dog all the activity necessary. A few of my personal favorite places where I can take your pup include Rock Creek Park, the Francis dog park on 25th street (for the social butterflies), and for long walks down the Canal Path and Georgetown waterfront! *If you would like a discount on your first Rover services you can use this link: https://www.rover.com/sit/sarahc27803 And this discount code: SARAHC27803

Sarah is a wonderful sitter and our 4 month old puppy loves her! There is no need to look further for the perfect person to trust your pet with!
Fantastic is all we can say. Our dog loved boarding with Sarah and she made him and us totally comfortable. Would highly recommend her
Sarah was excellent with our KMac!! She was available And flexible last minute. She is knowledgeable and super caring. She sent updates and pictures multiple times throughout the day. KMac looked liked he was having the time of his life. I felt at ease and comfortable having him stay with Sarah and would definitely without a second thought leave KMac with her again.
Sarah must’ve put a spell on my dog Jack. He LOVES her. She was super great at texting me updates and easy to work with. Would highly recommend.

Information Sarah C. would like to know about your pet
How can I make your dog feel safe? Is he or she dog selective? Does she have any allergies or behavioral triggers? What makes your dog(s) happiest? Fetch, a certain toy, belly rubs, long walks? Let me know how to keep your dog(s) stimulated and happy! Additionally, please let me know your dog’s breed, size, temperament, usual feeding and walking schedule and anything else you think I need to know to provide the best care.
A typical day
I’m a big proponent of enrichment games such as scent work, puzzles, and finding treats. I love talking long walks through the town and nearby neighborhoods. For dog boarding, my home is tidy, dog proofed and with only one set of small stairs that is easy for most dogs to navigate (or I’m happy to provide a boost if needed). I have plenty of places in my back pocket to explore, or I’m happy to come to yours, just let me know what you need!
