Ten Years of Rover Sitting!

Pet care experience

We are an active family who would love to care for your dogs when you are away. We are looking to establish a few regulars where we are familiar with the dogs and in return they feel comfortable and owners are confident in our care. We enjoy vacations ourselves and understand that peace-of-mind comes when you know your babies are cared for and thus enhancing your ability to enjoy your vacation. On weekdays, drop off/pick up is ~4:30-9pm. On weekends, we can be flexible with drop off/pick up. Enjoy your vacation! We send photo/s daily and your dogs will return to you happy and healthy. Why I love dog sitting My husband grow up with fondest memories of his first dog "Suzy." We love to walk. Our sons have grown up with Rover dogs since they were all born -- we had Rover dogs visiting when I brought each home from the hospital. We have been so fortunate to share most holidays with dogs and its a special part of our lives. They are part of our family. Walks We have no other pets. We have an au pair who cares for our kids. Our au pair will take our visiting dogs for a walk in the middle of the day while I am at work. Your dogs will be out five times each day - three walks and two potty breaks. About my yard We do not have a fenced yard. We go on walks. My experience administering medication Absolutely. We are prepared to give pills (bring cheese! or Pill Pockets or other treat if needed), topical lotions, or an injection just depending on what your dog needs. We are not squeamish. Please bring the treat of your dog's choice to make sure we are giving approved treats to get medicine down.

Sara took excellent care of Dorris and went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable. I appreciated how communicative Sara was during Dorris' stay and the ease of dropoff and pick up. Thanks Sara!

We are so grateful to have Sara and her family be our dog’s home away from home on those rare occasions we can’t take him with us. He’s always so happy there, and Sara does an amazing job providing daily updates. Thank you!

Sarah and her family take the best care of our dog. We get an update once a day which always puts a smile on our face and we never worry while we are away. Thank you as always!

We offer basic dog sitting, no fuss. All animals are part of our family -- not a guest. It's really that simple. We have a small house and they are with us all the time and there's almost always someone around. Some dogs need a break (with 3 boys we are likely louder than the average home). A dog will lay under the table to catch a nap and still be around us. We don't spoil in a negative way and don't provide treats that you don't provide. We want to ensure we don't send your dog home with any bad habits or a digestive problem.

Information Sara W. would like to know about your pet

All breeds have special traits. However, we cannot accept un-neutered male dogs or female dogs. We understand neutering is your preference. However, we watch many dogs in our house over time and cannot have 'marking' or a menstrating dog. I would like to know if your dog chews, has incontinence, medical issues, jumps, does NOT like other dogs, or bites. These are not insurmountable traits, but you must inform us. We will do our best to adjust to ensure your dogs' stay with us is enjoyable for them and us. If you have a create, bring your crate. We may not use it, but the crate gives them comfort. We do not use the crate as punishment, but reward crate usage with a treat or peanut butter. If you dog chews, bring plenty of their toys. We will truly work with most traits, please be honest and open in discussing traits with us and suggesting ways to work around them. We do our best to have one dog or sibling pair (from the same family) at a time. However, sometimes this is not possible due to the owners travel delay, overlap in drop off/pick up time, emergencies, etc. When you book with us, we cannot guarantee your dog will be the only one - but we will sincerely try.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We live in a quiet neighborhood with sidewalks, street lights, parks, and a few good hills. It is not a problem if your dog is not social, as we usually walk for exercise and can cross the street so as not to greet other dogs. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog will sleep in our room, on their dog bed, on the rug, or in their crate. Regardless of where they sleep, we do like that you bring their dog bed and crate to our house. It is possible your dog may never use or need either, however these items may provide your dog with familiar comfort and smells while you are away. We want to ensure we continue your training habits, please inform us of what those habits are. Such as, if you do not want your dog jumping, on the sofa, begging, etc. It is important to us that your dog return to you happy, but also on his/her best behavior. Time I'll spend with your dog There is someone at the house almost all day. My husband and I both work, but we do the majority of the dog care and walking. My husband does work from home a couple days a week and he will do the midday potty break on those days. Our au pair watches our kids during the day - the au pair will take the dog for a quick potty break around noon. That's three walks - in the morning, after work, and before bedtime; and two potty breaks. We do not just let dogs into the backyard -- we like to engage them on walks. This all assumes weather permits or that your dog wants/needs the exercise. On weekends, we like to be outside. We will generally run errands on the weekends, but are never gone for more than a couple hours. All the above assumes your dog needs lots of exercise - we do care for senior dogs. We follow their needs with shorter or slower walks.

My husband and I both work full time; he works from home in a flex schedule. In the summer, the kids are around the house (except for short activities at the park, library, etc.) and during school months, our au pair is around a lot as well. With all the walks and potty breaks, most dogs depart us being tired and sleep when they return home.
