Pet care experience
Thanks for visiting my profile! Let me tell you a little bit about me, and what makes me an excellent option to provide care for your pet! Like all other pet sitters, I have been a lifelong animal lover, and over the years have been lucky enough to own and care for horses, cats, dogs, rabbits and even fish. I am a long time volunteer at my local animal shelter (over 18 years) working primarily with dogs. I have been responsible for reinforcing basic training and commands, as well as behavior modification techniques, such as loose leash walking, reducing on leash reactivity and and discouraging resource guarding. I am familiar with a variety of training tools, and often find myself a resource for friends who need a bit of help with their beloved pet. I have also fostered medically compromised animals in my home, providing medication, diet and fluid requirements as needed, as well as worked off and on in a boarding facility nearby, where I was responsible for feeding, medicating and walking the dogs in my care. I am also well known among friends and neighbors as being a reliable pet sitter for them in their home when they need someone to stop in and spend some time with their pets when they are unable to do so. In my spare time you will find me out with my favorite hiking and walking buddy, my Jack Russell, Phinn. Additionally, I am happy to accommodate dogs up to 25lbs in my home. I mention this because the site has preset weight ranges for dogs, and none are quite accurate for my specific ability to care for your dog in my home. (-: I work from home, and have a flexible schedule, allowing me to care for your pet at a time that best fits your specific needs. I care for your pets as if they were my own; often taking a little extra time to keep them happy and comfortable while you are away.

Sara is wonderful! She goes above and beyond and does more than is expected. Because I know my dogs so well, I knew from the many photos that she sent me, that my animals were very happy with her and well cared for. Her visits were on time, all the time, and her written updates were cute and informative. I highly recommend Sara!
Sara is incredible! The way our kitty gets so happy about Sara’s arrival and snuggles up to her tells us how good she is to her. I appreciate all the photos and updates while we’re away so we never have to worry while we’re on vacation. We book her for every trip!
Sara is an amazing sitter! Each day she wrote a blurb of how all the pets were and sent me a photo shoot. She treats all the animals as if they were her own and goes above and beyond. You won’t have to worry when your animal is in her care.

In order for me to provide the very best in care for your pet, I think it's very important for me to know about any special dietary or environmental sensitivities, any allergies, whether or not they are confident both in the home and when out and about, or need the little bit of extra confidence that something as simple as allowing them a little space will provide. I always work to keep dogs safe when on walks, and in general limit interactions with others and their canine companions, unless that is something both you, and the other owner desire. I have worked with on leash reactive dogs and have the ability to make the walk a successful and fulfilling one for your dog. I work with all breeds and mixes in my work at the shelter and boarding facility, and treat every dog as the individual they are, without preference to breed. Lets face it, they are all pretty easy to love- cats too!
A typical day
A dogs needs are as individual as they are, and no one knows that better than YOU, their loving owner. I look to you to advise me on the type of activities your dog would benefit the most from in your absence. So, whether it is sitting on the couch for a good snuggle, belly rub or ear scratch, a brisk walk or even a hike, I am happy to oblige! My dog and I often log 4+ mile walks, so I am up to the challenge! What's most important is your pet getting all the mental and physical stimulation he or she needs to keep them healthy and happy. **Multi pet households** I can often arrange to take care of more than a single pet from the same household. We can discuss as the need arises.
