Dog Trainer with a Fenced Yard

Pet care experience

**A meet and greet is required for new clients. Please allow enough time (at least a week) between your request and when your booking begins to have time for a meet and greet and a trial daycare day so that both you and your pet can be comfortable during their stay.** **Repeat clients, please message if I show unavailable. I try to hold spots open for you.** I am experienced in doggy daycare, overnight care, and pet sitting. I am working on my CPDT certification. I have completed "Knowing Dogs" 101 (Dog Language) and 201 (Group Play) and have completed a variety of training classes with my own dogs. I use positive reinforcement training methods and encourage constructive play between dogs. I also do a lot of enrichment activities with the dogs, providing time for individual attention for each dog throughout the day. What my clients love about staying with me: - I send daily pictures and/or updates during your dog's overnight stay (especially during your dog's first stay). I want you to see your dog playing and relaxing on their very own doggie vacation! - I have a fully fenced yard, tennis balls, a doggie pool, and three dogs of my own who will help keep your dog entertained. - Crates, toys and dishes are provided. All you need to supply is food and a leash, (harness, if applicable), and possibly a blanket or bed from home to help them feel more relaxed. - Small groups! If your dog is shy or gets overstimulated or overwhelmed in a huge doggy daycare groups, but likes to play with other social dogs, my home is the perfect place for their stay! I limit the number of guests in my home to small groups so your dog can get individualized, customized care that they deserve but still get the social time they enjoy. - I love to be outside and spend as much time as possible outside with the dogs, and provide as much playtime as possible My daughter, Angelise, who is often home from college over summer, holiday breaks and occasional weekends to help out with the dogs, is an experienced dog walker, loves dogs and has grown up around them and is learning the basics of positive training as well. I started volunteering for rescues and humane societies when I was in college (a million years ago!) and I continue to support these types organizations with my time and money. I love dogs of all types, sizes and ages! Being a rescue dog parent, I have an extra soft spot for rescue pups. Due to the fact that I usually have multiple guest dogs, I expect my visitors to get along well with other dogs and with people. If you have a dog that does not do well with others and are looking for care, please contact me to see if I can accommodate your dog in my home. While I am happy to do my best to accommodate dogs that do not get along well with other dogs or with cats, please understand that I will not put my pets or client pets at risk. If I cannot accommodate your dog in my home, if you are within my service area, I will be happy to set up care for your dog in your own home. I am fully insured. My insurance caps my overnight guests at five. All dogs must be vaccinated. Guests over one year old must be spayed/neutered. No females in heat are allowed, even if under the age of one.

Sara was my dog sitter before the pandemic. Since I didn’t travel for work during COVID, I had not used her service for a couple of years. I was so happy to discover that her dog sitting service is still going strong! When I booked with her recently, she immediately remembered George and his gentle temperament, and she began thinking of how she could make him feel comfortable and at-home. Sara is not only amazingly organized and reliable, she has taken the time to get to know my dog. I’m so glad I can leave town for a few days and trust that George is safe.

Marlon had the best time at Sara’s!! We had a last minute change in our dog sitting plans and Sara agreed to board our 3 month old puppy for 9 days. We were super nervous but she sent us updates and photos every day to help ease our separation anxiety. Marlon came home well behaved and so tired from all the playing he did. We definitely recommend Sara for you puppy sitting needs and Marlon will definitely be back for more fun!

Sara did a great job working with Willow for her first boarding experience. Her patience and ability to ensure that Willow was introduced to other dogs at a comfortable pace was perfect for us. Thank you again, Sara, for a great weekend. We loved getting the photos and updates.

Information Sara P. would like to know about your pet

- Crate or no crate? (For boarding) - Does your dog have any allergies, sensitivities, or a sensitive stomach? - Are treats okay? How about peanut butter? - Please advise of any potentially risky behavior, bad habits, known anxieties or issues (such as resource guarding) so that I can properly prepare for your dog's stay. - What is your dog's routine? When and how much does he/she normally eat? Is your dog used to being walked daily? When does your dog normally go to bed and get up in the morning? How frequently does your dog go out to potty? - Is your dog a chewer? If so, what types of toys does he/she prefer? - Is your dog used to being around other dogs? - Does your dog have any history of either aggression or being a victim of aggression?

A typical day

For Boarders Outside: I like spending as much time as possible outside and love to take walks with our visitors, weather permitting. - A fenced-in, pesticide- and herbicide-free yard - Open space to run around and rough and tumble with other dogs, - Frisbees and heavy duty tennis balls for fetch - A pool for warm days! Inside: - Plenty of room for mild play inside the house when the weather outside is frightful, - Two comfy couches (one with a great view of the street and neighborhood squirrels!) for snuggling and naps, as well as multiple dog beds - Lots of toys - Kongs stuffed with peanut butter and treats, and puzzle/challenge toys for stimulation I encourage constructive play between dogs. I also do a lot of enrichment activities with the dogs, providing individual attention throughout the day as well as guided group play. I use a crate if your dog is comfortable in a kennel. For dogs who do not like to be crated, I have gates throughout my home that allow me to divide off areas for safety during feeding time, quiet times (such as Kong and puzzle toy time!) and at night. I have wire crates in multiple sizes to accommodate almost any size dog. If your dog is accustomed to sleeping, eating, or resting in a crate, you will not have to drag one along.
