Pet care experience
If you've seen me walking around town, you've probably already seen me squealing silently about your cute dog! :) When I spend time with animals of all types, I'm calm and low-key. I believe that they frequently pick up on the vibe of the people around them and do best with humans who are warm, patient, soothing, and predictable. I give them space to get to know me and feel comfortable. As a former educational aide in high school libraries, I spent nearly 20 years caring for (human) children from all walks of life, under constantly changing circumstances. I've had animals all my life (even ducklings!) and I've been pet-sitting professionally via Rover since the spring of 2021. Now, it's time for me to bring my patience and experience to your furbaby! I'm available every day from 8am until sunset. I have a very flexible schedule and am open to experimenting to see which times and days work best for me and my clients. I provide walks and home check-ins with your pet. I am also available for extended overnight stays (and I always bring my husband to stay with me) while you're on vacation. We're very tidy people and strive to leave everything just as you left it.
Reviews
We love Sandy so much!
Sandy was great as usual, she gave lots of love to our little cat and that always made me feel that Dusty was in the best hands. Her updates are very detailed and her videos are fun! Thank you for everything.
Sandy has been my Rover repeatedly. She is communicative, responsible, and my kitty loves her. I leave in peace knowing she is caring for her.
Sandy is just the best!

I like to make sure that pets feel like their space is still their space when I'm in your home. I respect their boundaries and take my time to get to know their personality. Also, when I stay with your pet overnight I always bring my husband, Josh, with me! He's also a former teacher who adores animals, so your fuzzy baby will get all the safety and benefits of two loving caregivers at once!
Information Sandy E. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog has any tendencies toward leash aggression, if they're okay with other animals and people, any medical needs they have, which vet they see, and if I can/should expect them to poo while we're out. Also, please let me know if your cat is an escape artist who is bound to make a break for it when I open the door. Also, please be aware that I live car-free in the NW neighborhood, so my availability is limited geographically. (Though I have made exceptions for overnights with established clients who have moved to different areas of town.)
A typical day
I love taking pups for long strolls through their NW Portland neighborhood so they can take time and (literally) smell the roses (...and all those other things they love to sniff!) If your pet is low-key and looking for someone to wander and chill with OR if your pet is alert and social, I'm ready to go with their flow! I like walking through the streets of Pearl, Slabtown, and Nob Hill. It's fun to let them check out the scene at the dog park (The Fields or Wallace Park) - I'm very prudent about letting your pup socialize with other pets, though. In general, I try to keep pups away from other animals (and people) until I have a lot of experience and a solid rapport with your cutie pie (and emphatic approval from you).

Availability
I am an artist, so I work from home and am usually available anytime. Ideally, I would love to set up a long-term situation where I tend to your pet on a regular basis, but I'm flexible!
