SandyPDX: I dig small dogs! :)

Pet care experience

I specialize in small breed dogs (1-year-old and older). Special needs & geriatric are welcome, as long as they can negotiate a flight of carpeted stairs. I don't walk dogs off my property, for safety's sake, but they have free reign in the backyard as many times a day as they like. I am as loving and indulgent as only a favorite Aunt or Grandma can be. Naughtiness and 'accidents' do not freak me out. Lap lounging is encouraged and welcome. Lots of snuggling and cuddling for every dog, every day. My fenced backyard is safe and secure. I will send you texts or email messages with pics daily. Dog-friendly floors and furniture, and smoke-free and alcohol-free environment. Dogs are fed separately from each other, so nobody gets anyone else's food. I look forward to having your dog(s) come stay with me! About this sitter: I love having dogs around me...they are the best companions. It is so much fun having my dog visitors and I feel great about providing a home setting for people who worry about their dogs being unhappy while they are traveling. I have not had any dogs display prolonged separation anxiety during their stay. They all respond to the comfort, safety, and affection of a home stay. Why I love dog sitting I have loved dogs all my life. I've always had dogs at home and dogs like me too. My experience administering medication I am used to giving pills, drops, ointments. But not injections. I also know how to help a dog if they have a seizure. I am retired. I am here 24/7 unless I go to the store/dentist/doctor etc. I am usually not gone more than an hour or two, at the most. Although my yard is very small, it has a 6' fence with double gates to prevent escapes. It has a small fountain, artificial turf (no mud), rocks and driftwood to wet on, and a seating area for me to enjoy watching the dogs.

My dogs were comfortable when I left and affectionate when I returned! They clearly enjoyed their stay, based on the photos Sandy sent me. What a relief!!

Sandy is the best dog sitter we could ask for. We are so happy to be not worried when we leave for a trip.

Information Sandra N. would like to know about your pet

It is handy to know any traits to be aware of...such as counter-surfing, shoe eating, escape artist, fears etc. This does not mean I won't take a dog...I just like to know in advance if I need to put my Birkenstocks on a shelf, or take the cookies off the counter, etc.

A typical day

I do not walk dogs off my property...as I've said, for safety's sake. During nice weather, I leave the door open to my small, securely-fenced back yard, so they can run in and out as they wish. During inclement weather, I let them out every hour or so. Your dog's sleeping arrangement: Dogs are welcome to sleep with me, or wherever they want. Time I'll spend with your dog: Each and every dog gets love and cuddles all throughout the day.
