As a dog owner of my own I know how precious our pets are to us. I always say that they are the best people I know. I rescued my puppy Slippers in 2008 as a 2 month year old Bichon Papillon. My reality check came fast as how much care and attention it takes to raise a proper puppy. I put him and I through training class (best paw forward class of 2008) and learned all the skills of a new dog owner how to train and teach a puppy obedience, crate, leash and potty training and the importance of positive rewards and tone of voice. Also the importance of exposing your dog to other playmates. Slippers stayed with my parents when I moved out a year ago due to a strong bond and love between him and my dad. I couldnt tear them apart and take him from his beautiful yard in the suburbs to my then small apartment downtown. Since moving out multiple of my friends have reached out to me to help raise, watch, or walk their dog while they're at work or out of town. I work in a restaurant so my work hours are ideal for people who work a regular 9-5 because my work days start at the earliest 2:30pm and go no later than 11pm, but usually 9pm. Therefore I have most of my morning/daytime free. I currently have two friends who rely on me regularly to spend time with their dogs throughout the week. Both of them are puppies (Charlie: 4 months, Rue: 8 months). I usually watch Rue later at night while her dad is a bartender and Charlie I play with and take for walks during the daytime. My favorite thing to do with my dog friends is go to the dog park (as long as they want to) take them on walks to get treats for both of us. Walk to the park right by my house and explore the little city trails. Set up play dates with other doggie friends that we have around town.
