Comfort and Safety Comes First

Pet care experience

Hello! Thank you for checking out my profile. I hope you find what you are looking for here, and please feel free to reach out if you have further inquiries. I typically to respond to customers (both present and potential!) within 30 minutes between the hours of 7 A.M. to 10:30 P.M. My name is Samm, I am 28 years old and live in downtown Kannapolis, NC. I have been a paid sitter since the age of 14 and have been professionally using Rover since 2015. I built my client base in Charlotte and loved every single one of my clients- both pups and parents. I took a hiatus due to COVID and moved from south Charlotte to Kannapolis, and am now opening my services back up to welcome in new clients in the area. While many Rover sitters specialize in dogs, I have experience with all walks of life when it comes to pets- dogs, cats, fish (saltwater and freshwater tanks), birds (including fowl such as chickens, geese, ducks, etc.), reptiles and amphibians (yes even snakes!) so rest assured that whatever pets you have, they will be in loving and experienced hands when in my care. While I am not a paid dog trainer, I do love to work with my clients puppies (young and old) on reinforcing their training as per their parents desires. This ranges from crate training to leash pulling to general obedience, and everything in between. I understand that as a pet parent, you know best for your pup and their home environment. Please do not be afraid to add in special "requests" as such when booking with me- I am yet to run into a request that is unreasonable or I am unable to perform when it comes to the ease and comfort of your pets. Similarly, I also have a vast amount of experience with senior dogs and dogs who live with disabilities. I am able to administer medications in a timely manner (pills, liquids, and injections) when required, and I am trained in first aid in the event of an emergency.

I can’t say more good things about Samantha. I am very picky and selective of who watches my senior dog as she is genuinely everything to me and I’m very over protective and obsessed with her. Samantha watched her for a weekend I had to go out of town. She was super communicative and thorough with her updates. I usually worry sick about my dog when I go out of town but this time, I didn’t find myself worrying because I knew she was in good hands. Samantha spent so much time with my dog over the weekend and it felt good to know she wasn’t alone for long periods, plus my dog recently had surgery and she was great about that as well. Highly highly recommend !!!!!

Samantha is incredible! Great communication, our dog and cats loved her, and it was such a joy knowing that everything was taken care of while we were away. Highly highly recommend and will definitely be re-booking with her!

Safety, trust & environment

I am currently no longer offering overnights or daycare to new clients at my home, as we now have chickens and ducks as pets in our backyard. While our birds are acclimated and unphased by our dogs, it is highly likely our birds can trigger a prey drive in unacquainted dogs. While I can survive the heartache of losing a chicken (EVERYTHING hunts chickens around here!), chicken bones can pose a very serious and potentially deadly threat to dogs when ingested. So, for everyone's safety, I am currently only offering services outside of my home. As such, I am fully available for drop-in visits in your home, walks, as well as house sitting. Please read on for what you can expect out of each type of visit in your home, and as always, reach out at any time for further information if needed. Walks: I offer 30 minute or 1 hour walks. This service is perfect for those who work or are out of the house, but need someone to help with making sure their pet gets exercise and a potty break. 30 minute walks are typically .5 miles to 1 mile in distance, sometimes more or less depending upon your dogs size and energy levels. A 1 hour walk is usually ~2 miles. During these visits, my main priority is getting your dog outside and nicely tired out so you can enjoy your day uninterrupted. I will make sure your dog gets a potty break while we are out, so all you have to worry about afterwards is where your dog wants to take their nap :) Drop-In Visits: I currently offer 30 minute and 1 hour drop-in visits. This is typically what an owner will book me for if they are out of town and need a sitter to drop in and make sure the household and pets are doing well. During this time, my first priority is medication administration, if applicable. Second to that in priority is ensuring your pup gets to relieve themselves. Please specify if you prefer your dog use your yard, or if you would like for us to take a stroll around the neighborhood. I take 15-20 minutes of walk or backyard play for 30 minute visits, and about 30-40 minutes for hour visits. The remainder of my visit will be to replenish food and water, give treats, pets, and attention, and clean up any messes that may have occurred. Please note that this is MY general outline- if you have a different routine you'd like me to follow that works better for you and your pet, simply notify me of such and I will be more than happy to follow your procedures. House Sitting: I will be staying overnight in your home and provide daily care and company for your pets and home. I will provide my own food, toiletries, personal items, etc., so you will only have to worry about and focus on gathering what your pet needs while you are away. Please note that I will not be at your home 24 hours a day. I will likely have to leave for class or to tend to my pets at home. If you need constant care at home for your pet, I am able to arrange for that to happen at an additional cost- please just let me know in your original booking inquiry. With a house sitting booking, you can expect me to perform all the everyday activities your pet requires. This includes timely administration of medications, sticking to your desired feeding routine, and as many walks and playtimes as you desire. Please let me know the desired duration of walks/play as I do not want to overexert your pet, or alternatively, not give them enough exercise. Light housekeeping will be performed- plants will be watered, mail will be taken in daily, sweeping/vacuuming fur and dirt, and general cleaning up after your pet in the event of messes. I make sure that your home is in the same or better condition as when you left it. I do not smoke or drink and will not be bringing unauthorized persons onto your property. Typically I send one update and picture per day around the afternoon. If you would like more- no problem! Just inform me of such and I am happy to keep you as much in-the-loop as you desire.

Information Samantha O. would like to know about your pet

I do require a meet-and-greet prior to all bookings with new clientele. This is as much for my safety as it is for you and your pets. Some pets are not okay with strangers coming into their home and react defensively, and I believe you should also be given the opportunity to meet and get to know the person who will be loving on and caring for your animal(s). In exceedingly rare circumstance, if for any reason I feel that a booking will not work out after a meet and greet, I will promptly inform you of such. I do this to avoid bad and stressful visits for your pet and I will have several alternative suggestions for care, as I do not want to waste time in you finding arrangements that will leave both you and your pet satisfied. Pet safety and health is of paramount importance to me. All meet-and-greets are scheduled at the pet owners convenience and free of charge. I am available to come to you or meet in a public place. Thank you for reading my profile! If you have any questions at all, you are welcome to message me any time and ask.

A typical day

I prefer to stick to the pet parents scheduled routine for the first few bookings and visits, so that your dog can warm up to me and we can begin forming a bond in an environment that is familiar to them. I do this by playing with them in their familiar territory with some of their favorite toys, walking their preferred routes through the neighborhood, and spoiling them with treats when permitted. My main priority for your dog is to get in their desired amount of physical activity and play, make sure they've been potty, and have food and water.
